that's a pretty good description you have in your post title
definitely a "tool" sounding bass there. nice drumming, although they were a bit dry for me (needed a little reverb). the bass riff was cool too. I wasn't a big fan of the guitar sound - it was a little too distant for me. i like it right in your face.
overall a nice little jam

Got my attention with the Tool reference.
I agree with everything t-willy said. Drums a bit dry and maybe a bit mono for my taste, bass sounds great, not a huge fan of the guitar. The mellow section at the end just seemed like a bridge - guess I was expecting things to continue
Thanks for sharing herotodus!

Thanks for listening guys!
This was constructed as a Demo song for Endangered Rhythms volume 2, which is why the drums were so 'plain' (personally, I like not only reverb, but a whole bunch of compression as well) and which is also why it is so short.
The guitar was a bit of an experiment. I constructed the part out of numerous bits and pieces that were sitting on my hard drive. I would have preferred a real part, but I needed a demo song, and my partners are talented but lazy, so if I waited for them, well.....
Thanks again for listening!
