Hi

Does someone know how I import ACID projects (.acd files) to Cubase SX3????

The manual says it's possible, but there is no explanation about how to do it!!!

I had tried to do through the import comand, but SX says "this is a not recognized file format".

Only thing "acid" i know other hosts support is acidised loops/samples, where extra data is added to the loop giving tempo, key, length etc information.

this place is really getting to be alot of fun

I don't think anyone has ever supported ACID projects. Importing ACID loops at project tempo is new to Cubase SX 3, that's it.

Exactly, to reiterate - you can import ACID loops (acidized wav files) into SX 3, but no other application can import an ACID project file except ACID itself, and perhaps Vegas - not sure on the latter. If ACID can export OMF then you might have a chance of importing that OMF into Cubase.

Thanks to all.

So... good bye Cubase! Let's Live!

It's not Steinberg's fault. No host developers really publish the specs for their own project file formats. It would be extremely difficult to maintain compatibility with a competitor's format even if it were published.

I wrote a popular soundtrack a couple of years ago, which started life as numerous tracks of chopped up loops in Acid.

Once I was happy with the tune in Acid, I exported the tracks to disk, then reimported them into Cubase for adding finish, and mixing.

This thread reminded me of how much I really enjoyed the whole process.

The Cubase mix really brought the whole thing to life.

The shame seemed to be that Acid then lost the plot, and never really got their midi editing and VST plug act off the ground.

Is there anybody out there who's successfully midi recording in Acid?

Does Acid really work as a midi recorder?

hi kevvvvv!

i'm working for a sountrack myself
and i'm using acid, wich is my main tool since v.3
the latest version (i think is 5c) is very stable to me
I played and bounced a lot of parts succesfully
being so simple i can freeze mi ideas istantaneously
it fit perfectly my workflow
yeah it's not perfect
infact can't wait to try the v6 next month

You forgot to mention that timestretching doesn't work properly in SX3.

i did a soundtrack using acid 4 a few years ago ... once each section was finished i'd render it as a stereo file, ditch the multitracks and the midi , then move on to the next section ...
importing audio from acid into cubase could be done in the same way ...
