...i sure as heck am as it seems to have been pretty much overhauled. Lets pray Sony haven't bloated it to hell in the process.

Still....it looks soooo fine

Me! ;)

But I already own Sonar5SE. I do not know if I must purchase.

I think that the DAW market is rapidly moving beyond "saturation" point. Having already been a big seller and then going out of favour, it will be interesting to see if Acid can reestablish itself. I have my doubts, but it will certainly be interesting to see...

I'm almost convinced to purchase it.

depending on stability, I wonder if they have an upgrade path from Acid 2.0 ;)

Seems nice ;)

Cautiously optimistic here. I love Acid Pro 5 for mangling audio and automating stuff....don't love the midi, vsti, and bugs. Seems like they've at least improved the midi and vsti parts of it. I bet it will be buggy as hell initially. I'm getting either Acid 6 or Live 5. Upgrading Acid will be cheaper, so here's hoping pro 6 turns out well.

I've used acid in the past from 2.0 til 4.x and I will not be upgrading anymore. I don't care for sony as a company having done the rootkit thing...which on 5.0 they started a similar thing with acid pro. They are way behind in the game and have been for some time. I am greatfull that they released an easy to use program to get me starting in making music on the computer, and I truely believe it helped many others in the same way.......but then again remember it was sonic foundry then. I'm not sure what you mean here...the DRM rootkit hoo-hah, that I remember very well.

Anyway, I'm being conditionally positive about ACID Pro 6, if:

a. the upgrade price from 5.0 Pro is reasonably priced and
b. the MIDI functionality is greatly increased

I'm already wishing that they had dumped their crummy effects, and left us to use our own VSTs. And that they hadn't bothered including a drum kit, which is pretty likely to be a total dud compared to existing VSTi versions.

Oh, and I'm not buying it the minute it comes out -- it's likely to be as buggy as hell. Did they announce a firm date and price yet, beyond the high-ticket entry price? It had better be brilliant to justify $500 from a newbie.

Looks like it will be the ultimate 5.1 mixing program.

Not after looking a Music Creator 3.0 for $29.00. Acid has caught finally up with it!
