Yup. :D Dennis has it in his posession. He emailed me the other day to let me know it got there ok. Maybe Dan will get ahold of it and make some nice third party banks with the sounds. :)

Here is a little teaser of what Daniel did with the new filters.

Well Mr. Big,
Those are certainly impressive! Now your going to have a pride of hungry lions waiting for you to feed them Rhino 3!

Can't wait! I'm so glad I got Rhino, especailly since I got Daniel's everything else bundle, that is just awesome.

Definitely...making all of those plugs, except for the ep phaser, look like hexaline
I actually enjoy the look of Mabento though!

Hello Mr Tick,

Ive been messing with Rhino lately, making FM sounds with the additive oscillators and using the envelopes a lot. I think it would be quicker to edit if it had tabs for the different envelopes (like with the oscillators). Would be even better if they could be muted from the tabs(so the envelope had no effect) just like the oscillators. It would be less hassle that way when trying modulations out, as there is a lot of experimentation involved with such a complex synth.
What do you (and others here) think of the idea? would you please consider it for an update?

thanks, Dan

Hi,
I'm not sure how much sense "disabling an envelope" would make. What should happen if you disabled the volume envelope ? How would the oscillator be triggered ? How would it be stopped ?

this reminded me, i've meant to get rhino for a while. It will be a perfect addition to my arsenal for a film i am scoring this summer :) and.. it's purchased.. now i'm heading over to those everything and everything else bundles :)

Good question :hihi: I have to admit I had the pitch, WS and phase envelopes in mind mainly. Though for completness it might well be usefull to mute volume envelope and have it instead of actually mute, default to a no attack full sustain and with the release stage defaulting to a reasonable setting (not too long not too short). In fact Im sure that would be handy sometimes, if it had a complex volume shape and you just wanted to compare it to a basic setting. If that might cause problems then dont have a mute option for the volume envelope, its the others that are more important.

I often start with a few oscillators with modulation and envelope setting (or a basic preset) and then experiment adding extra oscillators and routing. When I add extra oscillators in the routing the sound often gets to complex (I know to use simple waveforms for FM) because the modulation (envelopes) settings from earlier on is too much. I often work with Rhino this way because its complex, much of the fun is in experimenting. This is why the envelope tabs and muting abilities would be a time saver and encourage experimentation.

I hope I explained well enough. I do think it would be a good idea (well at least for my way of working)

Thanks, Dan

ok i've been playing with my new rhino for about an hour now.
my review: YES! :) woohoo.. happiness.

There already exists an easy way to mute or disable the effects of an envelope! In each envelope box there is a vertical light blue bar on the extreme left. Simply click and drag the value to "0" and instant mute.

I do agree that tabs or clicking on the envelope type names would be easier than the current drop-down menu. However, I've gotten very fast with it as-is.
