Mutools FREE will be their free download from their website. I don't imagine the same restrictions apply to CMusic, so we'll have to wait to see what that version's particular restrictions will be.

Because its close enough to the current release to discourage buyers of the latter? (unless they wanted to do a limited version of 1, which would take time and money to code, no?)

Post

I kind of thought for a long time that Mackie would consider distributing the T1 nfr with computer music.
Maybe part of the problem there is any kind of upgrade offer/deal - as T2 is a boxed product only with no downloadable upgrade etc. & there is no form of upgrade rebate available for customers outside of the U.S.
I think they may have dropped the ball & missed a golden opportunity there, as CM seem to be huge fans of tracktion & tracktion itself is great software for beginners, having very little in the way of a learning curve, but at the same time having a great deal of depth to it.

Or maybe it was just never on the table. ;)

More speculation, though: if it WAS on the table, I wonder if it's because so many people are still running along happily with T1 that there'd be no real reason for many of them to upgrade to T2. ;)

Like I said - missed opportunity, T1 was included on the CM cover disk for quite a while & the CM staff were fans, so it appeared to be the natural candidate to replace CM Muzys.

It's still on the coverdisk and I agree. Tracktion is cross platform, easy to use, and is the obvious choice for the coverdisk. It would be awesome for everyone concerned!

They gave away Pro Tools too ;)

imo the color choices are really odd..

looks like a cross between a flash 'program' and something designed for windows 3.1 :o

FWIW MuTools and so I assume CMusic is fully skinnable.

I hope that 'cmusic' isn't like Donk's 'C Off'..

at the current state I could never recommend Tunafish, really. Most of the students have some sort of musical background in a way that they would record MIDI plus the occasional audio track(s)
I can understand that and I'm aware of the need for those features. As Kriminal also pointed out: Tunafish is constantly developing (hence I would *never* charge people for upgrades 8) ).

Right now I'm working on ASIO implementation -> much lower latency -> ability to properly record MIDI.

Let me also explain why I released Tunafish in its really basic form without MIDI and ASIO. My primary target audience is people who have no prior experience with music and who want to fool around with all goodness that the VST world has to offer. Remember that if you stick to a plugins' presets, using a VSTi or an effect doesn't need to be that complex. Tunafish is supposed to get people going really quickly: near-instant-gratification, low learning curve.

My secondary target audiences are the hobbyists who do electronic music for fun and don't want to dive into more complex technical issues, schools (actually a large number of schools is already beginning to use Tunafish for basic music-education), and myself (I'm a really lazy musician :hihi: ).

I dedicate a lot of spare-time to the development of Tuna, but its still spare-time. Taking it to 1.0 took me almost a year, so I needed to release at that point, at least targeting my main group. Right now I'm developing the product further toward the needs for the more demanding and experienced usergroups.

I hope that made any sense.. anyway.. I'm working on the missing parts that are probably important to many people in the KVR community (who are generally more experienced and knowledgeable than the absolute beginners anyway).

Cheers!

Good luck with tunafish btw.

I can totally understand the reasons behind Tunafish. And maybe I'll recommend it one day as well.
There are 3 kinds of people:
Those who can do maths and those who can't.
