FL Studio is amazing. Why is it so cheap?

What accounts for the cost differences with these technologies? Some free VSTs seem to me, although I could be wrong, just as good as their $30 counterparts. I was thinking curiously.

SOme free VST's sound better than $200 dollar ones :wink:

FL Studio is cheap because of a smart business plan. No complicated copy protection, few staff/developers, a bunch of free samples, good support, the price itself, easy to buy, etc etc.

FL studio is cheap because it is just a front company for an international crime family. They are laundering money by the lorry-full.

You think Gol is a little brusk here on the forum?? you should meat him in person! :scared:
His other nickname is "nine-iron", after the golf club. I won't get into the reason for that, but it does involve pain. The guys over at cakewalk will tell you. :hihi:

It's pricing model is interesting. The cost of entry is cheap. But if you're like me you'll end up purchasing Producer Edition and all the generator plugins. I've spent hundreds on it now.
I like this pricing strategy because I was able to just pay for those features that I wanted. In the end, they're so good it turned out that I wanted it all! :D

yep, it is like mercedes-vs-ford
(edit: ok that was a stupid sample)

it is the brand-name you pay for, that's all.
but unfortunately, not all "big brands" are always better.

my2cents :hihi:

I agree with the sentiment but not the example...

@jeeb,

do you want FL to be more expensive?!?

if FL(xxl) would cost $ 1.000,-
do you think it would sell, at all?!?
if this would be the case,
there would be 10x customers,
and 1.000.000 crac.k users.

plus, only rich people could afford it,
and that would be no good.

Do you really think that $348 for the XXL bundle is cheap? Maybe if you compare it to Sonar, Cubase, et al but there is plenty of better value around. eXT is around a quarter of the price of Producer Edition and is very, very powerful. When you look at the generators that you don't have to pay for there isn't much that you can't get from freeware that wouldn't do an equally good job. And version 2 of eXT will have an awesome FM synth [if the mp3's we've heard are anything to go by] bundled with it.
For $149 I could get eXT, something like Ravity for drums or Toxic 2 for a truly great workhorse synth and still have money left over for a few handy effects [if you can't find enough good freebies]. Or, of course, I could get you-know-what with all the bases of XXL covered and a whole lot more besides for the same price as the Producer Edition of FL. So I really don't see that FL is cheap or that it is particularly good value for money either, regardless of everything you might feel is good or bad about it or it's competition.

@bambooman,

I certainly do not want to pay more for FL Studio, nor will I crack. I love FL Studio with all of my body, including my pee-pee. I think many who may have investigated cracking end up changing their minds after finding that FL Studio is reasonably priced. I was one. ImageLine is smart to have the decency not to make people sell their house for the program. It makes it easier to chuck out the dollars. ImageLine makes me happy. One can do alot with Producer Edition, a few of their good plugins, and a bunch of free VSTs spending a total of under $200. Plus the free upgrades!

By the way bambooman, I read your reviews on the Axiom. I found them very helpful. Thanks. I bought the Axiom 61 last week. It is currently in the hands of the United States Postal Service. How is your's treating you?

Peace
