I know -- there's no such thing as a stupid question.
Why would I want a mutlitap delay as opposed to your plain average delay plug-in?
What kind of effect does one do that the other doesn't and can you please give me an example of how each would be used differently in practice?
THANKS.

Multitap delay is like having 2-3 delay lines in one plug.
A regular delay is "single tap" delay that repeats after the original note at a fixed decaying interval.
A multitap delay will have one or more delay lines "chasing" the "original delay" set at different interval (usually at a much shorter interval)...... wow that sounds confusing....
Try this illustration.
Delay
O ----- O ----- O ----- O ----- O
Multitap Delay
O ----- O-O --- O-O --- O-O --- O-o
So the "yellow ones" are the "2nd tap".
It's like an echo of the original echo.
It's a great effect, I usually use it on all lead instruments.
It's like a regular delay with even more "reverb effect" highlighting an instrument even more.
Ahh and best of all, it's a lot of fun.
