LAst night I was playing with the RX2 files in Sonar using pHATMatik Pro and in FLStudio 6 using the Fruity Slicer. Lots of potential jsut with the RX2 alone. These sound great unprocessed and when run though my favorite compressor for drums, EAS Neodynium: Voilà! instant drum track. I tried the Steve Gadd, Danny Gottlieb and Ed Greene loops - Are these kits beautiful or what? - The BFD kits are sure to sound superb. And the Greene, Gadd and Gottlieb grooves are dangerously cool.

One thing I did not get were the Blackwell loops - I don't get them. Sonically the sounds are great esp the snare sounds, but the grooves ...???? I must be missing something.

Uhhhhh. Woops! When I read this I was wondering what you were talking about and I have just discovered that all of the stereo loops for Classic Rock didn't make into the folder due to a mistake. You can see in the multitrack folders what grooves were supposed to be in there. Sorry about that. So, I am adding the stereo Classic Rock loops to the list of "extras" that we're going to be putting up as downloads for all Special Edition owners. That along with some Danny Gottlieb multitracks and some extra stereo fills and varations to some of the loops you have so you can have an idea of what that's like. That's coming next week some time.

Okay. We'll do a few titles like that then. I wanted to but it was sort of out of the norm (in the middle between the 2 track/stereo masters and the multitrack/multimic editions...however, it really doesn't matter if it is desirable). We also have a couple of other things that don't fit in exactly with the model of multitrack/multimic or stereo loops but are more instrument oriented (such as Keith Emerson's personal keyboard collection samples, including his GX1 but I am surprised no one guessed this from looking at the Studio ProFiles t-shirt... have a closer look guys! ).

Something fun to try. I was doing this the other day and it was cool. Take the Bluegrass loops (even just some of them from the ensemble, especially the upright bass and mandolin) and layer various RAW rex files with them. You get some odd combinations. Wow, RAW is going to be wild for experimenting like that. You can mix and match 5,000 different grooves from drums, percussion, instruments... it's a lot of fun! Sounds great too. The bass riffs on Rockabilly and Bluegrass came out REALLY good I think. I have a whole Studio ProFile coming of JUST bass riffs that is pretty stellar sounding. Even the basic stuff that's not flashy is just so usable and solid. The more material that comes out the more interchangability there is between this stuff and you can really sound authentic to a certain style or even just to sound like a real band on your laptop. Good inspiration tool as well (even if you replace the parts with a real band later).

So, we're about to release the first downloadable "mini profiles". Some of the first ones are just the loops from the SE but in mini refills. If it says "SE" and you already bought the SE then don't get those downloads. It will say where it comes from but if you have any questions feel free to ask me. I will upload some individual percussion Mini ProFiles for you guys in Rex2 format. The minis are only $15. on average so pretty much anyone can afford them. Same quality. Just less material of course than full disc titles.

As long as we're being invited to guess about things, I noticed that Elijah's posts say that eSoundz members get free downloads. Is that some secret hint we are supposed to comment on too?? What does it mean??

I think he meant the free downloads of the Studio ProFiles Special Editions "Extras" which I mentioned.

Keith's title? It has some riffs on it but it is mostly playable instruments like his Moog Modular, Hammond Organ (pre and post knifed ) and the GX-1.

RAW is an Esoundz product line of loops in the formats of Rex, Apple and Wave (R.A.W.).

Rex in particular is a type of loop that is encoded with slice and hitpoint data that allows it to be easily manipulated in a number of host sequencers.

I'm new to REX files myself, but my experience with them so far on the ProFiles SE package has been very positive. I use Cubase SX which reads REX files. Regardless of the intended BPM of the loop, Cubase will take it and automatically adjust it to whatever BPM I'm working in.

I was recently working on a naked accoustic guitar track at 105 BPM. I thought I'd try a little bossa rhythm, so I dropped one of the REX files from the ProFiles disc into it. The loop was at 142 BPM, but it automatically went to the host BPM and worked beautifully. I added another REX loop of a shaker at 95 BPM to spice things up, and again, it all blended perfectly.

Of course I then dusted the REX files with a touch of a plate from my new CSR, and I'm good to go. Could not have been easier.

Thanks. So if I understand correctly, RAW is the product name, and it contains - like the Studio Profiles SE - the loops in all the standard format? or is there more to it?

I even found out - by accident - that BeatCreator really likes the files in zgr format that you put on the DVD
