Hi!

When listnening to big bands ie Linkin Park, and smaler local bands, i can hear that they use some kind of reverb or something on their crashes(bigger cymbals) which i really like..... But i don't know how to do.. :help:

Anyone who know's anything they want to share?? :)

thanx!

I'm not sure what you mean by you don't know how. Do you not know how to apply a reverb to a drum track (If so what sequencer are you using?) or that you don't know which reverb to apply. If so try using a plate setting for cymbals, as I find it brings out the mettalic edge.

Wouldn't compression be the go to effect for drums?

Try messing around with Blockfish from fishphones and see if you like the effect.

I agree, compression will go a long way to make more dramatic cymbals.

Something I do often: A delay can be very effective at extending/modifying cymbals. Just have to keep the sends at the right level so you don't hear the percussive repeats but still get the increased sustain. EQ'ing the delay would help with that too.

Yeah, they're probably just compressing the overheads and/or room mics quite hard (not to mention the track itself during mastering). That will add a lot of sustain to cymbals, while bringing up the room at the same time.
I'm sorry this post wasn't about techno.
