any noise-gate plugins?

Just got vocals for the remix, and they have metronome/beat/tapping or whatever in the background. It sounds low and hollow and will not be noticeable with 4x4 beat, but during the breakdown - its annoying. I tried using Noise Gate in my SoundForge editor, and it doesn't help, that damn tapping is still there and when I move threshold higher, it affects the quality of vocals itself. Can anybody recommend me any practical noise-gate plugin effects to clean up this background mess?

I think Audacity has a noise removal tool -- which zeros in on the frequency.
Anyone else?

You might want to check out the Floorfish expander; I use it for removing low-level hums and buzzes from audio tracks and works nicely.

I don't have Audacity, and just tried Floorfish and it still there
Any other suggestions? Unfortunately, I can't post a sample of vocals because of copyrights...
