Just curious. Anybody using SAW studio?
What it does for that kind of price which other dont? I tried the demo but GUI was sucking. why one would pay that kind of money for a software if it is not better than existing biggies like Nuendo, Pro-tools, Logic, Sonar etc.
I want to know its real power.

Fake wood panelling.
But seriously, it's supposed to have one of the best "sounding" engines. Don't ask anyone here about that though, as the common belief at KvR is that there is no such thing as variance between summing engines. I avoid the topic.
Oh, and it's really fast - programmed entirely (I think) in Assember. When it came out years back, nothing else could process anywhere near as much audio as it. Obviously not a factor any more.
But for the most part - fake wood panelling.

I heard that it sells(SAW Studio). But who is insane? the buyer or the developer?
I wish you prove me wrong. if not..what factors decide the pricing of a software?
IMO some people think only big price tags work for their music, if nothing else.

one more thing i noticed in their comparisan chart for lite and pro version. Price difference is $1200 and $2500. and only two additional features 'Zoom Mixer View and 'Wide Mixer View'in pro version.
http://www.sawstudio.com/SAWStudio/SAWS ... ompare.htm
Hehe.. you pay $1300 more for that two features, you see...
and ofcourse another difference is the number of tracks 36 and 72

Insanity...
I was about to start this same thread today.. About rediculously priced software that is not better than stuff way cheaper. And is entirely unpopular.. I wonder why devs dont drop the price if noone uses it.. Which noone does around here.

About the GUI.
I know it looks bad, but actually you can change it.
There are quite a few skins out there, some of them can change entirely your perception about how this software looks like.

i just love the way you expressed this.
but yeah, it's an interesting issue,
since people hardly talk about it at all.
for me it "seems" to be the rarest sequencer around,
even more than nuendo.
but if they want to "breed" a generation
of potential future users,
they should kick out a tiny starter version,
like steinberg is doing.. *whoomp*
but maybe it is meant to be as a rare
"petite cuisine extravaganza thingy"
...like buying a "software-ferrari"
for that money one can get a big ...
Motif, Fantom or Triton.

I am not against any perticular dev or app. I tried the demo, but its price is not convincing compared to its features. well let us drop the topic of its looks for the moment. and I am no one to dictate the price of any app in market.woc53 wrote: That would be SAWStudio Basic.
Look, go to the website, guys. Really give the demo a shot (download one of the many alternate "official" or third-party skins, or "shades" as they're called. Read the forum. Ask questions. Once you get an understanding of the software, then criticize it from an informed perpsective. Jeez, don't take blind potshots at the software before you know the real deal.
If you see the basic version of SAW studio which is $300. It is not better than $29 Cakewalk Music Creator3 feature wise or many other Free and Cheaper alternatives for that matter.
But tell me, why should one buy this? what is it offering so special?
I strongly think that you would only buy an starter version of a program which you would like to go along in longer run and update to its Flagship version later. such as Cubasis,Cakewalk MC3 etc.bambooman wrote:but if they want to "breed" a generation

one of it's indearing traits, according to a user I know well, is it can be used as a foh mixer with the proper interfaces.
He insistes t works great for that function.
IOW, it's more along the lines of one of those digital dinosaur mixers without having to purchase said mixers 'mouse' controllers.
