 Did you really never work out that unfeezing all tracks works instantly? Just unfreeze all tracks, and wait to refreeze you next choice.. its not rocket science.

And freezing to a single file is better than the conventional method as it also reduces HD activity: I can freeze an entire edit before tracking vocals, and know that the headphone mix is consuming no more resources than needed to play back a single 32 bit stereo file.

If I want to "freeze" and keep my mixing options open I simply use the one-button render option instead.

Complaining that you cannot render an individual clip is also dis-information: you can export individual clips, and you can nudge a clip onto a new track and render that in less time than it took me to type this..

that screenshot proves what I just wrote about T's rendering... :hihi:

Well, that was more in jest - you'll have to talk to jens about that, I've never used Tracktion. I still say you totally misrepresented that article though. :D

yes, sure - whatever valid information about T's serious shortcomings I post it's 'no big deal' or 'not a problem at all' - but all other hosts are just plain bad and have a terrible workflow  - but having produced hours of music with Sonar, Tracktion and eXT I can clearly say that to me T has by far the worst workflow of all of them and eXt by far the best...

No way!!! Export an edit with "render each track to a seperate file" ticked and you have achieved exactly what the article was describing except you have seperate timestamped BWAVs instead of one long file. What did I misrepresent?

Ok then, care to describe the procedure for eXT? You want to export each track seperately ready for mixing in ProTools, how do you do it?

my information was absolutely correct - to render a single clip you have to solo the track and use the export function and to specify a file-location and a file-name - after that you can use the inport function, go to the path you rndered to and import the .wav to a new track - that's how it works in T - seriously!

It's no big deal though and really fast - ask IIRs! :hihi:

You didn't say that the article was about exporting multiple tracks, or that it was about exporting multiple track to a different application.

One more time, here's what you said:
IIRs wrote:there's a 3 page "technique" article covering rendering VST instrument parts using SX.

The same instructions for Tracktion would barely make a paragraph
Look, I don't want to go on all day about this, but I fail to see how I was supposed to understand that was about exporting multiple tracks - in ONE GO - to Pro Tools.

You don't have to solo the track, just select the clip first.. or (as I said) nudge the clip onto a fresh track (cntrl + T, cntrl + arrow keys) and render that.

Does eXT allow you to drag FX plug directly onto audio clips before rendering them? Why not? :P

And I fail to see the relevance.

The task is a common one, given the predominance of Pro-Tools in big studios: the technique that took 3 pages and 6 screenshots to describe for SX has been translated into Trackionese in this thread with one screenshot and a single sentence. :!:

OK, well, now that Kingston has reminded me about Macros, which I just checked out, I couldn't care less.

Even I can remember that Tracktion has a render option. Quite cool, actually, it was v1, and this function was very handy as it rendered the track and imported th file in the project on a new track placed under the original one (I hope I remember correctly).
Din't know that they kept that bad freeze approach from v1. It takes soooo much to work with freeze if youwant to change something. Render on the other hand is a good option.

Post

haha that T2 rendering menu is nearly identical to that of cubase.

I f**king hate these threads. It stays informative for maybe 4 posts and then, a turf war. Why does it have to happen? It's like an unwritten rule that you have to defend a certain sequencer of your preference while totally trashing others. Where does that leave us who get along with pretty much anything?

Oh and mac sucks because I happen to own a PC.

Traktion users smell funny. Why? because I heard a friend of a friend who is a *pro* say it.

Why does the workflow feel so bad in sonar? Because I'm a slow idiot and refuse to learn it properly.

*universal finger smiley here*

XT2 will, yes! :-D (cause Jorgen listens and acts )

Except Cubase doesn't offer to export each track seperately, and Cubase doesn't have the other render menu which is specifically for rendering tracks back into the project. ;)
