Is it acceptable to use Endorphin for rap vocals. I can't get a grasp on Blockfish as it tends to lower the volume level of my vocals and make then disappear in my mix.

There's a knob - marked 'Output' on Blockfish - that may solve your problem. No reason why you couldn't use Endorphin - however it's slightly more complex to use than the former.
