Yep, the DSP doctor, the esteemed Dr Dave Berners! The brains behind many of the UAD-1 prized plugin algorithms, is actually a rocket scientist too.BTW the cassini space probe that made the discovery was programmed by the guy who does UAD-1's best plugins. Weird eh?

I think a UAD is ideal for classic rock, especially since a lot of classic rock records were made with the hardware Universal Audio outboard units. I have one in my G5. Not crazy about Nigel though but if he got the soon to be released (no really
) AmpliTube 2 and Ampeg SVX would cover guitar and bass processing. TRackS would do some of the nice compression and EQ if he wanted to go just host-based (or to have in addition). For reverb one of the best suggestions would be CSR http://www.esoundz.com/details/viewDeta ... uctID=1342
That's my store by the way. We don't sell UAD though (hmm, we should... maybe we will at some point. I really like it. Although, I like the Powercore too... just don't have one.) But, having UAD's Fairchild 670, 1176, LA2A is like having hardware studio staples at much less than the cost of the real thing so even if it isn't quite as great as the sound of the hardware units the fact that it is close makes it a nice choice. IMO anyway. Good luck.
