I don't like to drop names, but it's one of the artists on the CD. If you click the weblink from their age on our site, you'll arrive at their rather sparse blog - which gives the impression of a modest fanboy shrine to a favorite artist, but is actually the artist (I think). I just got a bad feeling about that.xander wrote:Who it be?

Ok...here's a little something I whipped up to get the ball rolling. It is a bit sloppy and unrefined, but it is meant to be a demonstrative collage rather than a refined musical peice.

oh yeah...almost forgot...
At least one part of every song from the katrina relief cd project was used (this includes bonus tracks). That's 44 tracks of goodness blended up!
Contributers, can you spot yours?

In fact, the overall feel has an amazing continuity.

This was my very first attempt at doing any kind of mashup. I didn't think I would be good at it, but I managed to weasel out some nice mashings. I think you should give it a whorl Alex! You might just surprise yourslef.xander wrote: I think lovingly crafted mate!!!

Well I have started *something* but it sux. But maybe I am being too scientific about cutting and pasting parts? Dunno mate --- but what I've done so far sounds more like a DJ mix and less like a real blend... know what I mean??freeztar wrote:This was my very first attempt at doing any kind of mashup. I definitly did a lot of that....xander wrote:But maybe I am being too scientific about cutting and pasting parts?
The hardest part I found was getting parts together that worked together. It was experimentation and when one peice fit, I moved ahead. It took me about 50 hours to do this mashup, but I learned a great deal. I noticed my mashup-iness increasing towards the end.
Anyhow, I'm off to catch my flight to Mexico...can't wait to hear the submissions when I get back.

Thank you and salutations fellow decocters, but I refuse to wear the crown. I am mad indeed, and so it is only by sheer luck and serendipity that I tenuously manage to decant pleasing mixes by recycling others art. So please rock on.xander wrote:Aye -- Well, George is the king (King George) and I cannot imagine besting him in any meager attempt of mine. @ Freeztar: Good work. There's a lot of nice blends in there and the mix is great. I wasn't sure if you were trying to fit everything in or just wandering through. I think you could make it really your own if you took one or two of the blends you found most successful and kept pushing them into something entirely new and formatted it in a standard pop song formula. As it is, it might be a good teaser for the CD.

The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.
