Request for LiveSlice : automation slots

Hi jacob,
using bidule as a live performing host...
i would like to have automation slots for all the liveslice parameters...
is difficult when you have complex layouts to manage your controllers when you have to have some midi assigment in LiveSlice..
would be far better to do assignments on the host level..
so adding to the controller source menus a kind of slot00, slot01, slot02...slot1024
would be very nice...

your request has been noted. It doesn't seem to big a task actually, and it would give higher resolution to pitch, pan and volume automation. I'll look into it (not like now, but I'm not ignoring it)

i remember there was one idea regarding automation.
as arrangements can get very complex and there are many possible parameters, one solution would be to have a certain amount of vst parameters (my suggestion would be 64) which then can be mapped just like the cc's.. that way you have to decide, which parameters you really want to use without loosing track because of millions of not used parameters in your hosts list.

that how I read lalos suggestion - instead of defining a midi channel, event type and number you just choose one of the 64 parameter slots - just like how you use the parameters in energy xt when loaded as a vst.

Then there's the whole concept of sending automation events to the host when the mouse is used to change arrangements or randomize - that's down the same alley.

yes..but don't limit the slots to 64..make it huge..like 512
with tablet2midi or tablet 2 OSC we could set hundreds of tiny sliders and draw with aquick pen movement zillions of parameters
parameter tweaking is life to electronic music

tbh for me it would make parameters too complex.. i'd prefer to use more instances if i'd ever be in need of more than 64 parameters

Make it selectable on the config page, how much parameters you want to use and everybody is satisfied.

anyway the parameters slots will be selectable from the dropdowm menu as the other midi CC/notees...you dacide how many and how complex could bne your setting

I don't think it will be anymore difficult to select from 512 slots than 64, as lalo says. The number of VST parameters cannot be changed dynamically, so I have to decide on a number - I'll make it the largest the standard allows, but I cannot imagine anyone would seriously sit down and map more than 256 parameters - that would take days
