One of my fav sound designers was a fellow by the name of Dave Tipper, who did breakbeat/IDM/downtempo, tho I dont hear much from him anymore. He wasnt the biggest of producers, but he was always able to mamke little squigly sounds throughout his tracks. The wierdest thing was that the effects always sounded related, as if it was the same sound, just manipulated differently. Im more used to using samples for effects, but not actually making the sampler "work". Its kinda confusing to me, as i want to make my tracks more involved, and not as static. I have Albino, which is excellent as a synth goes, and can make sounds, but not sounds that "move", i.e. you can manipulate them to get weirder feel. If you heard of Tipper you might know waht im talking about. Anyone have insight to his workflow? I noted he seems to get inspiration from DnB, so any DnB guys wanna chime in? I guess its hard to explain, lol.
