Your grasp of the definite article leaves something to be desired, eh what?
I am sorry, I was trying to be "leet internet nerd" (well, which I am a bit - the leet") most of my friends make typos on "the" all the time. So it is a kind of a joke?
A guy with serious GAS and lots of unused VSTs. But if I someday need them...

On a side note, I used more Miles'tone on one of my tracks...

Amazing:-o And welcome to the sax-players club :) (I used to play a Yamaha wind controller too...)

A few random comments:

* Joe Zawinul of weather report used to add a small very slow (1 cycle per 10 seconds?) LFO to the oscillator which gave a much more wind-like sound. In real saxes, there is always a continual pitch adjustment based on knowing the instrument, on getting more perfect tuning with the melody line, and one expression: not just slurs.

* The lowest 4-5 notes end up with quite a different sound. Of course, the trouble with providing this is that people will not stick to the range, and you have to figure out what to do outside that range. (I tend to think that a simulator can just not play any notes outside the range. That guides users more.)

* Good quality saxes, or even crappy saxes with a good mouthpiece, are are all very different tonally. My tenor, for example, has a "front f" key, which gives an amazing (well, to me anyway  ) co anglais or oboe like tone. Just when the front-F key is used.

* Of course, the alternative fingerings give different cutoffs and tones, but I tend to think that mouth shape is more important for charactistic tones: I tend to use an "Aw" or "Or" shape or a German "U umlaut" shape.

Cheers
Rick

Indeed, the player is as much the instrument as the hardware.

size of lungs and throat and mouth etc etc etc makes a big difference.

and then theres technique.

I mentioned alternate fingerings earlier in the thread, itd be cool to have a cc assignment that would just trigger valve/key noise, and maybe alter tone and pitch and airflow subtly.

I expected him to get a sax, didn't I? It is only the natural step to get the sax plugin so authentic as possible.

Don't disappear Guido! :(

Just gave this plug a quick spin yesterday - THIS THING RUUUUUULES! Man, this is so cool, who wants samples if you can have Miles Tone? Thanks a million, Guido!

Rumour has it that he sold his soul to Yamaha, and is now working on a polyphonic VSTi version of their vl70m.

:D
My main tools: Kontakt, Omnisphere, Samplemodeling + Audio Modeling. Unify = godsend. Tari's libraries also rock.

Do you know something we don't? Come on man, give us the skinny!

If Arturia had any brains, they'd subcontract 'im to fix their dud sax :)

On a serious note: did anybody hear anything about Guido?
I mean, his last KVR post was his last post in this thread, quite a while ago.
It might as well be that something happened to him.
Hopefully it's just vacations or so (early spring is simply beautiful in italy).
