You may want to lower the latency a bit then. Instructions for that are in the manual as well.

create a new audio track
route the mic input to the audio track
add the effect to an insert on the audio track
enable monitoring in the audio track.

I'm getting increasingly more convinced there should be a DAW drivers license.

It would seem that far too many people still learn only in "monkey see monkey do" basis.

But then, even monkeys can learn with trial and error. I would seem that humans are capable of this as well, but alas! history has proved otherwise.

actually, I think we can cut the guy some slack. That checkbox isn't exactly out in the open or "well" documented. It is documented and it is in the Getting Started pages. But, until you know how the audio path works it is a bit confusing. Especially since it doesn't explain it in relation to using various configurations like a mixing board or internal soundcard mixer or DI.

I only jumped on him because he complained about getting a correct answer.
