Ronnie, best as I can tell, plug the firewire into your computer, and the plugins show up in your host in exactly the same way they do for the UAD and Powercore cards...
From your DAW, it looks like the plugins are native, but the dsp is performed on the hardware with only a small host load for routing audio back and forth.

TTD is doing it as well...Without wrote:I have been waiting patiently for a long time for Focusrite to make some kind of plugins that use their Liquid technology (dynamic convolution). This looks sweet.

...Liquid Mix's DSP is housed within an elegant desktop control solution and connects to the computer via Firewire, which also provides bus-powering.
I think it works just like TC PoCo FireWire unit.

It's got a firewire interface and you access the hardware's effects via vst or whatever other format you use.Ronny Pries wrote:i'm not sure how that thing will work. like tc and uad or is one supposed to route audio through the interface and its mixer?
i'm a bit confused.
if it works the uad way, i'm all !!!! and going to order one asap.

It's a small (and for me it's very important) difference; a poco can't be bus powered. Not portable. This one is for sure. And it has hardware control. Right now there is nothing that can compare to this "little" thing.xs2media wrote: which also provides bus-powering.

yay, what made me wonder is the "per channel" statement, which gives me the impression that the effects are kind of 'hardwired' to the cards channels.beej wrote:Ronnie, best as I can tell, plug the firewire into your computer, and the plugins show up in your host in exactly the same way they do for the UAD and Powercore cards...

I'm guessing that there most certainly is. I run a pcmcia USB2 card for external drives and such, as it (the firelite drive) seems to deceide randomly whether it works or not. The PCMCIA card has its own power socket & adaptor which you can use to power stuff if your lappy isn't upto it - obviously it won't work just off the battery but it gives the option to use power hungry devices if you can plug in.mckenic wrote:beej wrote:I can from minemckenic wrote:Yeah indeed but bus powered - Im fuxored for a start... cant buss power from my lappy

The Focusrite thingy looks cool as f**k IMO and if it is £500 or less then its almost a no-brainer for me. UA need a more powerfull card for sure to compete now although I'm planning to run this thing along side my other DSP cards.
Native's dead........LOL
No, that Glitch is meant to be there.....
