I think you're being a bit unkind to RaySpace and its developers, especially with the title of the topic as it is.

Have you tried just creating a square-ish room with low reflective materials of a medium size and working from that basis?

Seems like you're comparing stuff you've got used to with something you're not used to, and it's coming across that you think the former is good and the latter is bad.

For what it does and how it does it, Rayspace seems to me to be a very good deal. Rather than bash it, especially out in public, why not spend some time with it to get to know it and I'm sure you'll find a place for it. After all, you did like it at one point, didn't you?

I have not used either Ambience or Rayspace for very long. I started trying out both near the same time. Please Gargoyle, this is not an emotional battle here. The factis that RaySpace cannot handle what any free or commercial reverbs can handle. I am not just saying, "RAYSPACE SUKS AND IT SOUNDS BAD," I am actually providing samples and showing you what I find horribly wrong with RaySpace.

Because RaySpace has this inability to deal with high frequency clicks, it is not ready for use in important scenarios. I paid $90 expecting it to be able to handle any basic scenarios. And yes, I did like RaySpace until I did some further testing to find that RaySpace cannot handle a very simple task.

Sorry Architeuthis, you act like an idiot.

You DID demo RaySpace, why didn't you do tests like this at that time? You only have yourself to blame. This type of tests is what demo's are for.

I think it is very very unfair to start a thread like this, and changing the thread title afterwards, because YOU made a wrong choice. !!!

Ditto M'Snah.

I bought a certain product once (not a reverb) and I'm unhappy with it. That's my fuckup. Nothing to do with the developer.

This case is no different.

Thank you. But this is about a serious problem in RaySpace. Listen to my tests.
Then change the title into 'clicking issue with RaySpace' or whatever. It seems to me that your mostly blowing off steam now, instead of constructively trying to solve this issue with the developer.

Good idea. And remember that it's Sunday now in some countries. Even some of the VST developers take that day off :) ;)

Heh, you're quite lucky you got sound out of it. Didn't give a sound after 40 hours of hard work to get it going. Deleted with a sh*tload of pleassure from my harddisk. The sound it eventually gave out was a selfoscilating rumbling noise that forced me to do a reboot to even get the sound going again!!

How I set it up? I tried to use it on one of the channels in FL Studio 4, no result no matter what I fed into the plugin or what preset I used. No change what so ever how hard or weird I tweaked the knobs, no change neither if I had a small room or a large cube. All 3 positions inside, so it should work. Still no result. I tried ot feed another channel into it. No result, I tried to use it as an insert effect. No response. In other words: RaySpace sucks hard...

I'm sorry for my rant here, but a plugin that doesn't give out a sound after 40 hours of hard work doesn't deserve a place in my studio. God I'm lucky I didn't buy it.

It's an effect not a VSTi, so you have to put sound into it as well :D :hihi:

I used it as an effect. And I fed ALOT of different sounds into it with no result whatsoever. And after I tried all that I put it as a master and tried the same stuff. No result until I succeded to feed the master out to master in. That's when it finally for the first, and last, time gave out the noise described above.

I never had any problems with Rayspace at all.
The things I didn't like about it, the developer changed within a few days .
I must say the sound quality is very, very good.

In my personal reverb tests it ended up first.
Followed by the arts acoustic reverb and ambience.
Even though the arts acoustic reverb would have been actually
first-place, but only because Rayspace had a much more realistic sounding
reverb, that made me rather think off a convolution reverb,
so it kept its first-place.

Instead of posting only MP3 comparison demo's,
it would have been also good to post a screen shot with settings
and also system specific information.
