Nice one, grymmjack!
There are 3 kinds of people:
Those who can do maths and those who can't.

Just make sure (well, guess that's FrettedSynths part) to not have the knobs require circular mouse movements.

yea. definitely agree on that. it appears to be already built that way.

re pod: i know i was being goofy :)

1-2: yup. i will remove it though and put it on the about page he wants me to build. :P

congrats grymmjack, that gui kiks birds asses.

FSynth, I have a eh bass microsynth.
can make all samples you want if there's need.
I think it's a proper synth (my first and only analog synth  ), the sounds gets pretty waveshaped even in the straight sound.

the SE emulation of the guitar one mentioned above was pretty nice, specially the response, but the sound wasn't much there.

plus I agree that the absence of a sort of vg8 for pcs (with hexaphonic pci/usb2/fw input) is wicked.
was quintosardo from sknote who proposed something to track guitars polyphonically? he's developing hardware too, so maybe there's hope of some work in this direction..

thanks all

Yeah, grymmjack!! That has got to be the coolest looking VST I've seen!!!

Post

it looks like my old 80's boombox and my line6 pod got frisky together and this is the result after 9 months :P i can almost hear that thing playing "jam on it" by nucleus (yes I was a breakdancer -- hahaha) ... in hindsight the 3 sections are a bit too jambox for my liking, the middle where filter/amplifier are coulde easily house two tapedecks with a copy of rundmc inside :)

however, this was also sort of an experiment of doing faux 3D pieces using only basic lighting concepts with vectors and gradients. freeamp se is going to look much cooler than this i assure you because I have more of an idea on what to start with/from.

that said, for the coming skin there are certain things that are obvious that will be included (pedals, speaker grill mesh, pots, buttons, etc), my question to you all is what kind of feel are we looking for here? should I go retro and classic like an old fender blackface, or newschool like some of the line6 amps, or a combination of the two attempting to pay homage to the greats of the birth-givers from the before-time :) ?

i would like to provide atleast something as good as the existing amp plugs -- using project-x x-amp as my "bar" to reach as level of quality (I like that UI alot)...

So post any pots, switches, amps and textures you think may help me to steer the design. I'd really like the help in picking and decorating this great simulator. Also if you have any kind of layout preferences that deviate from the current UI (which I think is a good job in terms of layout), please make them known to us here.

Also to joe: is Helian a real amp or just the name you chose for your amp?

thanks everyone, this is fun. :)

I really like what you have there now grymmjack - but yeah, I guess there will be a lot more to FreeAmp SE. I like how FreeAmp has stomp boxes for fx, and I really dig Fender blackface cosmetics in general - but maybe that idea of combining old & newschool would be the best. Maybe the post amp type stuff (delay, reverb, chorus...) could have a modern rack-mount look? As far as controls, I think sliders are the most functional for computer/mouse use, but they probably aren't the most appealing from a graphic design standpoint.

I'm sure however you decide it'll look cool!!
EDIT: What's project-x x-amp ? Didi I miss one somehow? :o

Post

Well you gotta like that GUI for the synth :D Thanks to Grymmjack I can let it go, I most likely would not have released, the GUI I had was flat out ugly

For the FreeAmpSE GUI? Have a blast :D I hang up my GIMP and bow out of the graphics stuff.

Thanks all
Fretted Synth

And about the amp name :D AKA Joseph DeHelian
