inquiring minds want to know...

does Kore have DSP on board or not??
If it does then it seems like a pretty darn good deal to me.

I'm with you on this one! :tu:

I love Kontakt, but I'm so frustrated by the lack of bug fixes with version 2. Despite the major crashes in Sonar when Kontakt can't find samples, I still can't import my Roland CDs, and still have problems with some AKAIs.

I too, can't bring myself to invest anymore money with NI at this time. Which is quite a shame.

Besides, I own a copy of Chainer anyway. :P

BTW . . Why the hell wouldn't they go all the way with Kore, and develop a replacement for the deserted Logic PC users. THAT, I might have gone for. They could have called it Kontraption, Kontempt or even Krapshoot. :help:

(NI ... I do love you guys, but currently I'm quite disappointed.)

Cheers

I've been using the MIDI control mode of the TASCAM FW-1884 for nearly a year now... I can't for the life of me figure out how Kore is any better. I can grab a laptop and V-Stack and wail away - even using the TASCAM as an audio interface and mixer. I just don't get Kore at all. Maybe NI has identified some group that will perceive this as "needed" - I just can't imagine who that would be, especially at the price point. I guess we'll see...

Nothing special... it's an organizer... but considering that the hardware it comes with seems like a very very good midi controller, that I would see would be costing around 300-400 dollars, and that it comes with good NI software that will ensure the midi controller works well in most situations... eh... it's a fair price. Much cheaper than I thought it would be... not that that's saying much.

if it's an organizer... well... i don't need it.
if it's a controller... i bought my behringer bcr2000 for 129 eur, it works perfectly.
i still didn't understand what is kore...!

The Kore software looks a bit like a versatile version of Reasons "Combinator", but for VST and AU plug-ins?

It looks like its a host and plugin that acts as plugin host, like Chainer or somesuch, allowing layering, splitting and routing of plugins, it has built-in patch-library features, including a predefined database of all patches for all NI instruments, and it comes with a dedicated controller. Whats so hard to understand?

Well, if you own tons of NI stuff, it might be very helpful. I have huge problems to find the right sounds with all these Komplete instruments... Regarding the controller: Seems to be an integrated, 'intelligent' system with no need of manual mapping and the respective knobs laid out in the same fashion for all instruments. Could be a real time saver, and if you play live, it might be very helpful (no need to check every sound and its mapping before going on stage...).

However, I have the feeling that the Novation Remote SL is a better deal, with its Automapping and many more controller options, like faders, and XY pad and so on. From what I have heard, it is superb. It's still missing the organizer function, though. (But I wouldn't pay 400-500 bucks for just that little bit convenience...)

Oh and it looks like the controller is also a USB audio interface.

One thing about Kore which gives me a headache: Obviously, it seems to be a 'second layer' between the plug in and your sequencer/host (if you don't use it as a standalone). Wouldn't this be highly likely to produce more problems with compatibility and stability, and wouldn't it introduce more latency, higher processor stress etc.?
