Apparently Bomb Factory is now a recording studio in L.A. http://www.bombfactory.net/ ,not sure about his disposition these days though.beej wrote:Anyone heard of Erik G since Digi bought Bomb Factory out just to kill off the bad PT vibes..?
Wonder what he's doing, and whether his mood's improved...

What's the story with the Bomb Factory guy? What happened?
I love Dirty Laundry, out with it!

Nothing that specific, just that he pretty much made a jerk out of himself at the DUC(Digidesign forums)on a regular basis, and also arguing with Digidesign themselves making it an embarrasing situation. I guess one hilight was when he trolled the UAD forums under several user names claiming their plugs were bogus and posting links to charts showing how the BF plugs were supposedly superior. He basically acted like the epitome of a troll on various forums. It was fun for a while though.Sickle wrote:What's the story with the Bomb Factory guy? What happened?

Perhaps Liquid Mix includes a space bar plugin.Warmonger wrote:M4M, can't you type in Notepad (or whatever the Mac text editor is) and do a find-and-replace to replace the underscores with spaces? Or, better yet, find a key remapping tool?

I doubt there are more than 4 or 6 dsp's inside judging by the size of the unit. See above for price.bmanic wrote:So, to calculate 32 channels it would need about 1 DSP chip per channel. That is 32 of those modern SHARC DSP chips, no? I think this would end up being extremely costly and not feasible at all under 1000$.

bManic thanx for your input. I'm dissapointed somewhat, but at the same time somewhat pleased by your review.bmanic wrote:...For instance, the 1176 model in the sintefex doesn't compres at all as the UAD-1 version does but the overall "sound" of the unit is IMHO closer to the real thing (though I've never tried a real revision E or D blackface so this makes my statement rather vague. I have experience with early 1178 and revision H 1176). I have captured some compressors myself and it is impossible to get the compression action itself identical to the original unit. You can get pretty close but not nearly as close as the UAD plugins are. However, on the other hand you can get the "tone" of the box so close that I have not been able to find it in a blind ABX test (I tried this on my crappy DBX 376 tube channel thingy). This also applies to EQ units, they can be captured pretty much identical to the original which makes the Liquid Mix very good value...
The EQ seems to worth it's value, considering the URS plugs are about the same price, and the trade is more variety vs. latency(when comparing to URS Eq bundle).
The compressor info dissapointed me alot.
Oh well, hopefully the controller can control other vst...

I don't know anything about Power Books, but I've replaced the keyboard on this Dell laptop 3 times and it's really easy (like 4 screws and a ribbon cable). I bought the keyboards on eBay for about $20 each I think. They probably have keyboards for your Power Book, too?bduffy wrote:Touché!M4M wrote:yep_but_a_power_book(macbookPro)_is_2500$Frippertronix wrote:Way to press on, but PC keyboards cost, what, about $15?M4M wrote:y_e_s_beej wrote:Space bar broken?
