High quality?!!
Don't tempt me to post my 96khz 24bit hi-end tape hiss here. :hihi:

Few of the all time great home studio slogans:

"24bits: makes my hiss sound better"

or

"24bits: more headroom for my hiss"

Post

i like my hiss low n dirty,thanks.

btw it is an i.r. isn't it?(cos it sounds like ground hum on it's own.)

Yea, it's totally useless, but there ya have it. :hihi: Hats off to anyone who finds this useful.

I suppose I should also post an example of the type of saturation the unit produces, but all that would achieve is make all the people who love the current crop of tape plugins (ie. waveshapers) cry.
i say post those example because the last crop didn't hit the target from vst to tdm hedd only gets you 45% of the way

I completely agree. Even the new neve portico fails because it doesn't attempt to emulate the *media*, but only the process surrounding it (namely the tape heads). It's the media itself that makes the sound interesting, the imperfections in it. Think watercolors.
