Sorry, I missed that one. Yes, we should be able to address that after the SONAR 5.2 update has been released.ResonantOrder wrote:No answer to the question about a version 4 update?Alex Westner wrote:Actually, Chordspace is a VSTi - I just tried it with SONAR 5.2 and it seems to work just fine over here.Meffy wrote:Aw shux. Very cool! I've been wanting to try this.Alex Westner wrote:Actually, Chordspace is a VSTi - I just tried it with SONAR 5.2 and it seems to work just fine over here.Meffy wrote:Aw shux. S'okay, I can keep using whyterabbyt's workaround for Chordspace. Still good, yeah. =^_^=
Though, these improvements do leave me wondering what y'all have up your sleeves for the next major release. I'm pulling for a slew of new MFX /MIDI control features.

hey guys, this definitely looks like a great update to Sonar. I'm a Cubase user myself due to some things I dislike about the way Sonar (tried the v5 demo) handles Rewire and I'm afraid that these updates won't solve them for me...
For instance...
- Currently there is no easy way to group 2 mono channels into a stereo pair. When I ReWire reason into Sonar, I am only given the choice of 1 stereo channel and 62 mono channels. Of course, most of us route many stereo signals from Reason -> Sonar and its way too much of a hassle to use groups for every stereo ReWire pair.
- I also noticed that there are several controls that aren't synced up with Reason / Sonar such as Loop points and if I also remember correctly, I couldn't jump to different parts of the song using Reason, I had to use Sonar.
- When I hit play, I get a little pause in the audio, its probably around 40 - 50 ms, and then it continues.
Not intending to be negative, I'm just very curious as to whether the Sonar developers are aware of this, or maybe there is a way around them.
Regardless the huge number of midi channels for use with reason is a massive improvement, nice work ! And the MIDI out from VST plugins is awesome. I also agree about the comments made regarding VST organising, it's way too hard to organise plugins with Sonar at the moment.
Cheers

P.S.: The reason I mention these is because I wouldn't mind switching to Sonar.

Is it better to buy an upgrade to Sonar 5 now, or is there any advantage to waiting nearer Sonar 6 for any special 5->6 deals that might appear closer to the time? Sometimes they have fancy upgrade deals closer to the time for previous upgrades that are about to expire.
Obviously, you could spend years waiting for such offers and I'm guessing S6 is still in a galaxy far far away...
[edit - S5 only came out in September... I dunno what I'm talking about...]

I have known about your tool for years, but I think that Cakewalk should have done something about it for a long time. It's cakewalk responsebility to make it right, workflow wise. The implementation of the plugin manager of today is not by any standard hassle free. Thanks for your work of subsonar, but Im ready for full control of the VST organizing, and the possibillty to export and import the VST organizing list, so I could use it on another Sonar installation or have different plugins menu-structures for mixing, recording, etc...whyterabbyt wrote:It doesnt need to be:soundpalace wrote: I also agree about the comments made regarding VST organising, it's way too hard to organise plugins with Sonar at the moment.

Fair enough. Im working on a couple of things which might help aspects of that, but finding the time for it (and the development of SUBSonar) is difficult at the moment.djLuna wrote: I have known about your tool for years, but I think that Cakewalk should have done something about it for a long time. The .ssdat file which SUBSonar uses can be used on a different installation, quite easily. If you're prepared to rename files, you can also change them to suit task, although you'd need to restart Sonar as well. Handling multiple configuration files is one thing Im hoping to get done. Thanks for your work of subsonar, but Im ready for full control of the VST organizing, and the possibillty to export and import the VST organizing list, so I could use it on another Sonar installation or have different plugins menu-structures for mixing, recording, etc...

Its nice, whyterabbyt, that you take the effort to work this out.whyterabbyt wrote:Fair enough.
