What I basically want is to throw a break into Live an be able to trigger the different slices with midi notes. Is there a simple way to do that?

Post

Yes.

Load the loop, make sure a track has the same number of beats as the loop, hit the Lock to Loop button.

From page 6 in the manual, here's the info on Note triggerring:
  • By default Notes C1 to B2 on channel 1 trigger arrangements.

By default Notes C4 and up on channel 1 trigger individual slices from the current loop (with no parameters).

Damn, am I feeling stupid now, I just couldn't figure this out, thanks a bunch!

note that the default setting triggers the slices from the slicer - so the sound is unaffected by the track settings.
If you want to use the arranger parameters like volume, pan, pitch, you have to go to the settings page and set the value labeled "Use Arr." to the arrangement containing the slices you want to trigger.

ok so it's a bit complicated admitted, but I wanted to keep it flexible.

Hey ohm, is it possible to use midi to trigger other loops aside from the current loop? Say you have 16 loops loaded, is there a way that you can change the current loop being triggered by changing the midi channel? If this is not a feature that has been implemented, which doesn't appear in the documentation, has it already been suggested? Hypothetically you would have the first 16 loops loaded that correspond to each of the 16 midi channels allowing you to alternate between them without using the GUI to select the current loop.

Hopefully I was clear,

You can do this as it is.

You can use midi keys to trigger arrangements. By default C1 is mapped to the first arrangment, and C#1, D 1, D#1, etc. mapped to the following arrangements - you can even trigger multiple arrangments at once (polyphonic playback).

In case you mean triggering individual slices from loops, the solution is to trigger the individual slices from arrangements instead, then select the arrangement you want to trigger in "settings".

Currently you can't assign a different channel to different arrangement, but it's a good idea - added to the list.

I'll check the docs on the subject and rewrite it so it's more clear.

Hope this answers your question

Yah, that's what I was trying to say. Thanks for your suggestion, it was helpful. I didn't even consider exploiting the poly arrangment feature.. Also, chosing the channel for each arrangment would make things a bit more obvious in live situations.

Thanks again,
