I'm looking for IRs captured from gongs. God knows if that's possible (after all, it's a resonating surface rather than a space) but if so can anyone recommend some?
I'm trying to achieve the metallic and harmonically rich reverb that characterises the Ondes Martenot - the vintage French instrument. One of its speakers is a gong resonator that acts as a reverb. Great sound. So, is there anything like that out there?
Thanks
Hitch

Have you tried just using a (processed?) gong sample as an IR?
An idiot on Set Theory:
"In some cases there is an object called red that contains everything that is red. In much the same way a pot is a plate."

Using a gong sample! That's interesting. Thanks.
How would I capture an impulse from that?

I've used guitar harmonics as impulses like this in one of my tracks. How to get the impulse? Just hit the thing!
Or find a clean sample of someone doing it...

I think if you have a stereo wav or can output to one, you would be all setHitchcock Bell wrote:Using a gong sample! That's interesting. Thanks.

just load that wav into your reverb as the IR
[corrections welcome]
