Someone recommended to me taping a pencil to the center of the microphone cause it blocks some of that overpowering airflow that causes the sharp consonants.

I've only tried the deesser in voxformer and the waves deesser....i actually thought the voxformer worked better than the waves sometimes....only thing is you have to disable all the other voxformer effects....compression and saturation etc to get a transparent without coloration if u jus want deessing....but u can get suitable results tweaking each....also sometimes sibilance is good

If it's bad enough you can't fix it with this one...well, it was probably too bad in the tracking phase to be helped by any post processing.

second that. floorfish and spitfish are what I use. the Mackie DSR that comes with T2 (my host of choice) just doesn't do as good a job in as little CPU as these two guys in series IMO. all hail the fish phone guy.spacedad wrote:fish fillets?

Don't know if you use Cubase, but it ships with the SPL De-esser, an excellent and really easy-to-use De-esser.

did you wash it first???
but really alot of it is training yourself to not'hiss' on ess'sssssss. It can be done. Also. turning your head slightly before the offending 's' comes up helps.
That's the oldskool method, but is best in case you ever plan on playing 'live'. If not, a windscreen helps, but the 'ssss' can cause your a-d convertors to overload (clip) so the processing is best done right after the preamp.
or turn your record level down to help prevent such overloads from happening. Then use what was previously suggested , or any compressor with sidechain eq set somewhere between 3k and 8kHz (user's voices will vary). This has the effect of turning down the volume every time you do an 'essssss'
Hope that information helps...
