S'up, yo!?

Sorry to be a pain in the arse asking about a subject that's bound to have cropped up before... but... Can anyone tell me where I can snaffle a shit load of breakbeat style vocal snaps? You know the ones... random, 1950's type odd sentances that don't make sense. A very English gentleman saying "And now time for nice cup of tea." A teacher telling a young boy "Now johnny, don't do that..." An American radio broadcaster stating "We're being invaded by giant badgers, dammit!"

You know the score. I've looked thru The BIG Sample Site List by pantsdown666 but it doesn't seem to hold exactly what I'm looking for.

Your help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance

Possibly not quite the solution you're looking for, but had you considered just sampling stuff yourself, from videos, audiobooks and suchlike.

Also, trawling charity shops for old spoken word records is a good option - I've got a rather nice 'how to set up your stereo' LP full of BBC english voices saying things like 'the friction of the needle against the record produces an unpleasant sound' and 'the ultimate aim is to produce sound that is completely acceptable to the listener.' I've heard at least a couple of bits from it used in tunes. Other charity shop scores include The Adventures of King Raam LP that Lemon Jelly sampled, Under Milk Wood, the Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats (read by Elliot) etc etc etc.
It's a rave, Lewis!

DWb, I have thought of sampling myself. But... er... my Welsh accent just doesn't sound right. Neither can I do a passable excuse for an accent either, ha ha!! :D
I do like the sound fof that LP you say you've got.Just the kind thing I'm looking for. And public service announcements too...

Well, I meant 'do the sampling yourself' rather than 'sample yourself speaking'. That said, old radio announcers, B-movies and kung-fu have been done quite a lot as sample sources - maybe the era of the welshmen is about to begin?

Hmmm... youtube might have some good stuff. I'm not sure if it's possible to sample directly, but you can always go oldschool and record your audio outs.

if you lower the sampling rate the voice comes across different, try it, has a slightly different effect to pitch shifting and makes you sound like a rapper with a big pair of balls ;)
