Actually, I think they're more like $$$ programs! I can't remember how much Sample Robot is, but you could buy a decent host for the price if I recall correctly.
blech.. fair enough, they're probably waaay more advanced than this, but still..
One of these days I may make a super SC that'll do 10 octaves / velo levels all in one pass.. I'll keep it in mind.

and yes, Evolver would be sweet, thanks!

I can't imagine them being a whole lot more advanced than this. The only thing that's left is actually creating the sample map!

I'll whip up some samples tomorrow morning and send you a PM. Are there any sorts of sounds you're looking for in particular?

Thanks for the awesome (FREE!) program. I've always wanted to be able to use the Evolver as a polyphonic synth, and now I can.
Excuse all the blood.

But I guess they do all velocity layers and octaves in one go.
Btw Directwave has a pretty cool Vsti-sampling feature, auto-sets loop points (pretty well) and keymaps samples. No hardware sampling though.

I was listening to the samples on the website the other day actually, very nice sounding synth. I'm mostly interested in cool evolving atmoses I can mangle, thanks!

you're welcome, enjoy it, and don't forget the Conditions of Use :) ('though your sample donation is good enough - that was more for everyone else!)
cheers,

Nifty idea, yes. I'm most interested in seeing what I can do with it that I'm not suppose to do, though. ;)

EDIT: nevermind

Quite simple really man:

Put SynthCatcher on an audio track. Put your VSTi on a midi track. On the midi track, select the midi input to be Audio1, on the audio track set the input to be the midi track. Turn on the monitor for both tracks. Press preview, should work.

Hi I appreciate your effort :D
but I meant for sampling a hardware synth.... i guess its the same method though..... I must have got things mixed up

Same method, just audio input replaces the signal from the midi track, and the midi goes out your midi output, rather than to another track.

yeah, how do route the midi straight out if not to another track ?

cheers

Make a midi track and do what I've done so far - selected the midi tracks INPUT as the audio track that Synthcatcher is on. Then use the drop down menu on the midi track labelled OUTPUT to send it out through your audio/midi interface.

You can't do it straight from an audio track, you have to use a midi track to "grab" the signal.

Cheers for your help Amberience, I have no idea how to do this stuff in Live (as I don't use it) - nice to know it works.

Hi, I take it all back, it works, just the monitor section in Synthcatcher isnt showing anything for me.

Thanks Amberience for the help

and a BIG thanks to stk for this excellent tool :D

To get the monitor section to work, you need to route the audio to Synthcatcher I think.
