I'd be willing to host some resources over at SampleSquad.com for folks wanting to experiment with some of the free amp sims and various ways of approaching that.

I thought it might be particularly useful if we had a decent pool of riffs and styles that were recorded perfectly dry. This would allow stricter A/B tests in the sense that you could download a 1978 Fender Strat with stock pickups going from a known DI box into a wave recorder using RiffA and compare it to what someone else is able to achieve with the same source material.

Yeah?

Come on guitarists, break out your vintage guitars and your new ones and let's get a little database going. Eventually we could even set up some all-freeware rigs and presets to share and have the ability to present them with standardized mp3 demos of what is being offered.

As long as you don't watermark fire hydrants, I think you'll be fine.

OK. I'll set up a SampleSquad.com page in the future that shows what info would be needed to provide a rig to the general public.

I'd rather watermark a hydrant than a transformer

I figured I'd give Aleksey a free plug too...lol

I wonder if there is someone on KVR, maybe a lurker, who is accomplished as a fingerstylist. I think it would be fantastic to have a dry recording of someone doing a solo arrangement of something cool like a short classical piece with which to do both rig and reverb tests.
