Can anybody please tell me how to activate Samplitude 8 SE Keys Edition on an OFFLINE machine ? No way am I gonna connect my DAW to the internet.
Maybe I'm just too dumb, but I can't find out the procedure. Registered ok, got the activation code, the tool seems to need an internet connection.
Posted this before in the big thread, but it seems nobody's interested.
Mailed Magix support, all I got was an automated reply saying I need an internet connection for activation. Yes, I know, but how do I transfer the registration to my DAW ?
Thanks in advance, susiwong

Guessing.......Is your computer connected up to the internet...do you open up magix...and open up a panel whith registration on it..?
Do you download code and paste or download file and load..?
Does it have any special security thingy?
Have you registered yourself on the Magix site?

Thanks, I may be dumb, hut not too dumb to figure out the (complicated) registration / activation process. I have gotten the activation code, no problem.
But when I paste the code in the activation tool it wants to connect to the internet, which is not and will never be available on my DAW.
cheers, susiwong

It might be something to do whith making sure the program runs on a particular machine(machine ID) and the internet connection is the only way to verify it. And so you can't give someone else a copy.

You can defintely do this. Email Samplitude support.
I use Sam 7.23 and my DAW is off-line. I think the procedure is slightly different for version 8, but I know they let you do this.

yeah, sure, I told you before, I already got the activation code from Magix, no problem.
But when I paste that activation code into the Samp activation tool, it wants to connect to the internet, which it obviously can't, or quits.
That's my exact problem, for this will make SE unusable for me.
Little by little I fear, du auch is correct and this is the first music software that needs a direct internet connection. Unbelievable if this should be true. Still hoping for a solution, though (stupid me ;-( ).
Cheers, susiwong

Susiwong, there's an "Offline Registration Form" in .rtf format in the install folder somewhere.
You can send this form by mail or Fax and wait for the reply from Magix. This is what I did. I installed the programm on my internet partition to test it first and decided it is worth installing on my main Music partition (which is on the same PC - I'm dual booting).
So I'm awaiting their response now.
Regards
Raphael

Raphael,
sorry to destroy your hopes, but I saw this, too, and it seems to be the equivalent of the first step - online registration.
Exactly the same form.
Sure hope you can prove me wrong !
Cheers, susiwong
PS: Big thumbs up for multibooting, been doing this for years on all my PCs and couldn't live without it.

I don't know too much about SE, but I am a long time Samp user. V8 users can register their dongle off ANY machine with an internet connection, there is definitely no need for a constant internet connection. SE is also going to be for resale, so it stands to reason that it will follow suit with the rest of the line.

but the SE version dosn't have a dongle, so the copyprotection means have to be tighter.
Magix states that when you make changes to the hardware, the activation becomes invalid, so it seems the activation process couples the serial # with a fingerprint of the computer.

well, I kinda accept almost all copy protection, dongles, C/R, DSP cards, you name it, but I draw the line when the security and stability of my system will be compromised.
So Pace, no no never, and I certainly hope, Samplitude , which I highly respect, will not compete in that area.
Hell, even MS products can be installed and activated without an internet connection. I never use Windows update, I download and collect the update installers.
Cheers, susiwong

OK, it's official.
Samplitude 8 SE needs an internet connection on the computer on which it is to be installed.
Got the info from phone support.
This is unbelievable, I can only advise everybody who hasn't already bought the Keys magazine or, worse, the download version, to think twice before putting down the cash. I certainly won't support this kind of BS, and I won't be the only one. None of the audio people I know, pros or amateurs, can afford to have an internet connection on their DAW, they have to rely on their machines.
Furious, susiwong
