Well... lads... it finally happened! After 37 years (okay, say 24 years since first listening to Genesis and loving it) I FINALLY met Tony Banks! I went to The Farm yesterday. It was really cool. I talked to Tony about keyboards for over an hour. This was icing on the cake after hanging out with Nick Davis who I have learned is even more brilliant than I had thought. I listened to him remix Mama in 5.1 and other Genesis tunes in surround. All I can say is WOW! In some ways I feel like 5.1 is the only way to experience music where you can really hear everything clearly. Think about it. The difference between mono and stereo is huge right? The separation? So, another dimension just opens it up that much more. I haven't been listening to 5.1 discs much probably because I am lazy and don't sit down and just blast it in my house enough. However, after this I think I am going to. Also, I will buy every 5.1 mix Genesis puts out. It is totally and utterly worth it, even if you already have the regular albums. I have no idea when they're releasing them or any other inside info (at least that I can share
They were really nice and I hope to go back again sometime. The assistant engineer said it felt like everyone knew me. That made me feel good. I got along great with him and Geoff Callingham as well who is all up on the plug-ins and was getting into the techy side of some of the things I was saying they could do with AT2 and Miroslav Philharmonik. I had to point out that there were models of the MXR Phase 100 and Boss CE-1 pedal in AT2.
