FL & buzz users ? effect and generators , your favs..

Hello all,

I've gone fruity...no not mad..
tht happened years ago..

After trying to use fruity in cubase..i;ve decided it makes more sense to do it the other way around now..Fl studio 6 practically makes cubase totally redundant for me, i can finally let go of the old lady( a bitch she was)

as well as the vst wrapper...theres a buzz wrapper to...i;ve quickly gone on buzzmachines.com and have a gist of things.
the amount of stuff is overwhemlming..
Was wondering wht the stand out/much talked about effects or generators are ? any suggestions ? with a preference for weirdness/manipulation..

I;ve only last night started using fruity and in danger of getting a " why dont u read the bloody helpfile" i;ve been here at work wondering if all the midi plugins i use (klanglabs, tobybear etc.) can be used in fruity 6 ?

anti, all the fruity gens/plugs that come with it are worth knowing/using with few exceptions. they are nice and easy to understand and easy to automate. in fact, there are people making music with just what FL provides and with great success.

I'm not sure if FL supports any midi plugs -- with FL I never needed anything external for MIDI (honestly it does MIDI extremely well). So dont know about this.

I would be interested in hearing about the best buzz generators too.

Welcome to FL scene. Do you do ever simultaneous multitrack audio recording? If so, don't throw away your copy of cubase yet. If you are 100% MIDI, though, it's safe to burn the f**ker I was a cubase user as well, but I did alot of simultaneous audio recording -- FL compliments anything well because it's so adaptable, VSTi/DXi/ReWire it's all there. I used to stick FL into cubase as VSTi and had the best of all things. Or so I thought until I found Tracktion, then life really started becoming fun! Now I tossed cubase in favor of T2 and still use FLS in VSTi or ReWire when I want.

What I like best about buzz machines are they are light on CPU and are simple yet powerful. I sometimes have to pick two in a chain to get what I want but I get a much more specific sound than using one VST that would try to do the same thing. I also like the way none of the generators include effects, because I like to have the consistency of having the same effects applied to all my sounds instead of 8 different reverbs, delays and chorus in the same song (unless for a specific reason).

grymmjack - I originally had the idea of just sequencing drums from fruity into cubase and was thinking of buying just the express version but the demo is the kitchen sink and all , when it booted up i was back into learning curve no mans land, i spent the whole of last night (most of this morning too *_*) de-constructing the demo songs to see how it all works..within an hour or so i had a basic understanding of its workflow, had ideas swimming around in my head and just tht excitable compulsive urge to make music again tht has diminished ever since i quit my band and sat in front of this god damn monitor..which reflects how well thought out this is. I like the flexible routing system..the broswer system and just its basic nature...i cant priase this latest incarnation enough...i have been won over and will prolly get the producer edition soon altho i do have a sneaking suspicion tht if i was presented with ANY host other then cubase i would be saying the same but it turns out fruity has caught my eye first..I dont multitrack so i really cannot see a use for cubase now..i will prolly still use cubase for the guitars and vocals..only because i know my way around..but maybe after a while even tht will become redundant.

Wht about traction over cubase do you like ? I do keep hearing about these other hosts but sometimes change is frightening.

Soma - Thanks !!!!!! for all this...much appreciated..i shall get these ones first...would you know ? if midi plugs can be used in fruity ? I would love to know wht fruity CANNOT do..for example i have battery and wondering how i could route it through fruity step seq, i dont think u can...also the midi out....wht would the use for this be ?
Oh and the classic fruity one " can tempo be changed in a song " I dont know to be honest...yikes !

Be careful with generators. Not all machines work in FL so sometimes you can suddenly get a HUUUUGGEE burst of noise that could easily blow your speakers AND you ears.
I have gone through ALL Buzzmachines over the past couple of years, and of those that work in FL and here are a few that I recommend:

I'm not a Fruity user but an old Buzz veteran.

All the machiens listed by Debutante are good except I can't say I'm familiar with Muon's synth but I bet it is like his 303 style vst thing. His drive distortion (forget the name) is wonderful for a little push and character.
