Come on AT2 owners i dare you !
Post something good or admit that your AT2 can't do a proper high gain !
Well..my AT2 hasn't arrived yet so I can't say for sure, but I don't think AT2 is what you are looking for. I think for your sound you need something like this: Metal_Guitar Sound_Sim

At least that's what all metal sounds like to me. (but then again I'm old :) )

ROTFLMAO

You can't be too old to have a good sense of humor. :hihi:

btw. All metal ? You must be a true metal connoiseur - i'm just 28 and think that i would never be able to listen to some types of metal (nu or Christian for example).

Guitar Rig 2 is also capable of same sounds.

Is it possible to post real hi gain sounds of At2 ?

Post

I think AT2's high gain sounds are pretty good but you need to tweak most of the presets to get the best sounds. The cleans and crunches are where AT2's talents really lie however, it is suprisingly natural and responsive in these areas.

Your clip aint all that mutant

And believe it or not a Pod is software too.

Take something like Meshuggah's catch 33 or ISIS's Panopticon. I think tones like they have are easily doable with AT2 from what I've heard. When I get my iKey I'm gonna really road test it, because if its good, I can get rid of my Valvetronix amp and replace it with a laptop.

That is the worst sounding clip yet. That last part is soso, but the first part is terrible.
If you have to ask, you can't afford the answer

Can't agree with you here. Probably the playing should be redone, I further think it's too much drive, but the basic character is kinda there.
There are 3 kinds of people:
Those who can do maths and those who can't.

In the second half maybe. In the first half it is totally non-existant. Maybe it is the drop tuning that is the problem.

I think its just the tone. Doesn't sound that good to me, the playing and stuff is fine, but the tone doesn't suit my tastes I guess.

Thank you Plexi Head
Sounds good!
This sounds much more crisp & articulate than the other AT2 demos I heard so far!

I'm wondering what you use for preamp/DI?
I used an LA-610, but I have found a real key to getting amp sims sounding
crisp is active pickups which I used on that tune. There is no EQ, reverb or anything on the tracks, all
dry. I added a touch of tape delay to the lead sound.

Amplitude 2 really excites me, I think it is a great leap forward.

Thanks once again Andrew.
Hmm.... just a few questions:

1 What is your overall impression of LA-610 used with guitars? Certainlay gives more options tone wise.
2 Do you find yourself using the T4 compressor a lot? (on guitars) No I use the Waves stuff
3 How does it compare to similar products like Groove Tubes "The Brick"
http://www.groovetubes.com/product.cfm?Product_ID=2084
or Avalon Design U5
http://www.avalondesign.com/instrudi.html
(again only when it comes to guitars) I don't know those products

Now about active pickups:
1 On high gain setups, how much background noise reduction can I expect? Less than passive, I think?

Here is a DI take of some riff that was posted in this forum some time ago (I played it a minor 3rd above though, standard tuning), which is effective to show basic tone character I think:

http://s54.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3H8D ... FONPNYZBZQ

It would be cool if someone who knows about metal could send it through AT2, and apply some EQ (of course) afterwards...

This is what a friend of mine and I did with Guitar Rig 2:

w/Gratifier: http://www.filegone.com/wtta or
http://s54.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=07TK ... U7QYP8PYC0

w/Mezone: http://www.filegone.com/1f0n or
http://s54.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2CIC ... K7VK9NT3ZY

w/TransAmp: http://www.filegone.com/vgg1 or
http://s54.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0DQ2 ... E15JJIBPK6

and finally through the old WarpVST:
http://www.filegone.com/drqm or
http://s54.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3K9S ... IPX5I6XZL8

We plan to do some more with other styles, since metal isn't our stuff.

You can also grab the DI file and send it through whatever you want and post the result, it will be interesting to compare!!! :)

Mutant,

I'm glad you took my post in the spirit it was intended - a joke. I was afraid after I posted that it could be misunderstood as a slam. Not my intent.

Yeah, I wouldn't know a good "chuga" sound if it bit me in the proverbial ass. I've got you 2X on the age so my idea of heavy metal (if that terms is even used anymore) is Led Zeppelin :o

Gratifier didn't sound half-bad.

WarpVST has this dull scratchy mid-frequency thing I can't really define :/

Oh really ? :hihi:

First i'm not a pro.
Second i had no time to make a stellar perfect recording, because it was too late, i did it without even touching the amp controls i just placed two mics by eye and then put those three clips through it. EQ was done on a pair of 10$ headphones.

Can you do better ?
Post your clip but do it my way (without any tweaking).

I think my clip while not the best in the world, shows you how a real amp reacts, it shows you its nasty aggresiveness and "balls" i don't know how to better describe it.
