Hi All,

I'm currently demoing ACid Pro 6 and i must say i'm mightily impressed; after a couple of days I've only managed to find one very minor irritation that i've failed to sort out. I was hoping someone here could help

This is the problem:

I would like to edit my drum patterns using a drum editor, rather than a piano roll, in the "Clip Properties" window. I found out how to do this in the main sequencer window (that bit was straight forward) but i can't seem to do it in "Clip Properties".

Does anyone know if this is possible to get the drum names to appear where the piano keys are in this specific window?

As i said, it's only a minor annoyance - this is one of the best sequencers i've demo'ed - i'm considering a slow reach for the wallet.

I spent 3 hours last night searching for a solution; but it looks like it isn't possible. I hope someone brighter than me can prove me wrong ;)

Is that what you want?

Thanks Mahtazz

I managed to get the midi drum names in the main sequencer window (as your picture shows), that wasn't a problem, but i'm unable to get them to appear in the "Clip Properites" window (the one beneath the sequencer).

I find editing in the clip properties window much easier - you don't have to keep resizing the sequencer track lanes to see what you are doing.

Thanks for the reply

the clip is strictly piano keys, no drums. the inline-MIDI editing is made mainly for drums, but unless you work with GM drums, then it's not really useful to have names for drums.

The piano roll editor (versus the timeline piano roll editor) is a completely different piece of Acid. I think they kept it around for legacy users more than anything, so I wouldn't keep my fingers crossed for an update.

Resizing isn't too bad once you start using keyboard commands to do it, although it admittedly fit my workspace better because I have it split between two monitors in vertical alignment, so that my upper monitor is to check status (like plugins, synths, clips, etc) and the bottom is to work (the timeline, chopper, and buses). I think the best thing you can go is to use the maximize button on your drum track to work if you need more room. Also you can press Ctrl+Shift+Up/Down to adjust the size of all track simultaneously, as well as Ctrl+' to put them back to their default size.

You can create or load drummaps beside the GM.

ACID 6 ships with a good set of Drum Maps that can be loaded and used.

From the Tools menu, select "Drum Map Editor..."

Thanks for the advice. As i said, it's only a minor problem - hardly a show stopper.

I'll stick to editing the drum tracks in the clip properties window (this method works best for me) and keep my fingers crossed for a future update.
