Progtronic Rock I checked out quite a while ago.
That's a great addition to my EMC listening addiction.

I've made it easy. I have trouble navigating their site so here's some links:
Once on the site hit the Winamp or Windows Media Player links at the bottom.
EMCRadio is now a licenced radio station
Here is where you submit songs to be played
Read about & vote for your ElecticMeme DJ
On their schedule Hangout denoted the time when KVR and The Auditorium people's music is being played, including the Music Cafe monthly contest songs
Techbot says that EMC Radio needs more submissions!
Only 180 artists thus far have submitted songs and more are needed.
Request a weird kvr friend's music and there's even a field so that you
can dedicate the song and send a message, such as,
"Yo! This one goes out to all my homies in Düsseldorf, right‽‽‽"
(note the all-important use of the "interrobang" punctuation)
Techbot has also pointed out that posting the name of an artist and their song here when you hear a song on EMR Radio that you like would be really helpful
{I don't know how to code this stuff so if anyone understands why it's formatted weird with text
fighting with the EMC Radio icons feel free to post it here.}

I'm not one for rules for the sake of em, but where would the monthly competition be without em.
And in this case it might put a litlle structure to the project and give it a sense of identity. It might even embue it with a community spirit.
Hows about?--- Any time someone wants to contribute a tune they also have to recommend another artists tune, post the recommendation at either of the submission pages and contact the artist.
Should the artist not wish to have their tune added ( has only ever happened once), no problem but at the least the contributer made the recommendation and wrote the PM. It would create a wee bit of quality control without resorting to censorship.
Meanwhile the quality control is not down to one or a group of individuals but every participant. The radio repetoire becomes as interative as the actual playlists via requesting.

Techbot or somebody made this sticky and enthused about this code here so I edited it in:Techbot wrote: This is the singular most important act that anyone can do. It has taken me this long to realise it.
I am not familiar with all the music on the station and I normally depend on BendyBones and Positivepixee to warn me of tunes that need to be remixed or remastered (by the contributer not us) before they are played again , tunes that should have their rotation policy turned down low
and tunes that we should follow up on, ie who wrote it? have they more ? Are they part of a netlabel that produces similar stuff of high standard and of course their rotation policy is turned up to high
With schedules in place, I hope that content, format and style become the main issues not technical ones. I of course will continue working to ensure the smooth running of the project from a technical side. But I can't help but feel this is where things get interesting.
You(tm) has produced two hour-long shows for EMCradio that break the mould. They are neither a disperate collection of tunes nor a single hour long epic. They are a hour long journeys into sound, with breaks and beats and funkyness and collage and ambience and drones and jokes all blended with an unmistakeble You(tm)ness.
He has promised 9 shows to the series - one a month.
No doubt- at some point we will play All 9 back to back.
Meanwhile You(tm), TotalCult from The auditorium, myself and others on the project have made radio jingles for the shows.
So we have pieces ranging from 20 secs to 1 hour written specifically for the radio. Their lenght alone should present artistic possiblilities not present in the 3 to 20 minute format that is oh so yesteryear![]()
I'm thinking phoney commercials, poetry, audio experiments that are too short to warrant a full tune, but could easily be turned into a jingle if "Be write back" or "Don't touch that dial" were appended to them.
I'm working on the Netalbels material at present. Anybody want to suggest netlabels that would be worth checking out.
Is there musicians here, who are already signed who would be interested in having some of their labels catalog on the station. remeber we do pay royalties now.
At some point in the future we might start actively contacting labels out there. But that's for when the project looks and feels more Pro. (EMCradio Pro Ver 1.0- I like it).

<a href="

And here's how I added a button to link to EMC Radio's request page for my songs.
Just find where your songs are on the request pages and paste your link over mine here:
<a href="http://87.192.229.248/eclecticmeme/php/ ... gate"><img src="http://www.eclecticmeme.com/images/aniw ... black2.gif" align="right"></a>
And if you want to see what this looks like (I am very, very non-web-savvy! I don't get how to format stuff yet) it's the same code on all of my band pages so lookie here and see what it's like:
MySpace URL:
http://www.myspace.com/briarmonsmetrach3
Somebody else should gimme their myspace url that uses this code as an example that I can edit
in here I don't want to subject people to my l33t html non-skillz all the time.

Hi Techbot!
I like the look of the changes that are happening to the nav - only thing is, no pages seem to open properly for me and haven't for a few days.
Can't access the Auditorium to leave a comment there for you.
Just thought I'd let you know.

My ISP has just upgraded my account to the business package instead of the home one, at no extra charge to make up for the inadequate service to date. This could mean that the breakages will be to our advantage as I had assumed I would have to upgrade at some point.Glassback wrote:Hi Techbot!

Please try the site especially the IRC page. I still have a lot to do. Some of the text is unreadable and a lot of old info is still to be crossed over.
I really hope we have crossed a threshold re site layout and the backend technical stuff. Except for the minor tweaks, I am hoping that my focus will soon tend towards content.
Enjoy
Rob
Oh and everything is running under Apache now

Great news on the upgrade thingie!
All pages are opening a lot quicker now (before, they were either so slow as to not bother or just not there) but the playlist page is still a bit screwed.

ok. The speed issue was my first concern, and being able to have more than two users without it falling over.Glassback wrote:Great news on the upgrade thingie!

Working on the playlist page now. If necessary I might have to remove the search button and just have the alphabet bar, till I figure out the code. The recursing pages I can fix now, I think.
I'd rather have it live and do the tweaking as I go so I can test the Apaches reliability. This is the first time I will be hosting most of the site on my own server. Music and videos will stay on the external server.

play button should work now.cptgone wrote:radio no workie here... the "play" button is gone

Interesting.
The playlist file is a .pls file (need because Firefox does not like port 6000 so by using a pls, winamp takes over and accesses the port).
But since installing Apache and PHP. PLS files are parsed instead of being sent directly to the user and thus to winamp.
Solution. Put the PLS file on my external server where it is not parsed.
Meanwhile the search function is also fixed
Thank you guys for your help here. I would not have noticed the winamp button.
The artists page is part of the content crossover. Won't be too long

I gave my congrats over on The Auditorium so now I'll get to bugs in case you
aren't aware of them.
On Opera and Firefox the "now playing" central window leeks down past the
general frame of the page. Kinda cool since it shows more of the text that
way but it might be indicative of something you'd need to know about.
Also, I myself registered but now can't login. I tried having my password
re-set twice now but nothing's showed up in about 45 minutes. Could be me,
could be a glitch I can't tell.
Congrats again! Hopefully I'll be commenting on songs and sending you new ones
once I find a free hosting site that's not annoying for people to download from.
(I utterly overfilled my Auditorium account so I'm going to leave my albums
there for the time being and get back to spamming Alchemaic soon)

the registration has been approved and I've upped you to author status which means you can add links and more importantly news items. ( I think )runagate wrote:I gave my congrats over on The Auditorium so now I'll get to bugs in case you
