PLEASE dont even post in this thread unless you know what swing is.. And if you think its a humanization MIDIFX then your definately wrong so please leave. :D

Energyxt WILL soon be great.. But to tell you the truth I've been waiting for over a year for this feature... I don't know how long it will be until it is implemented.. So im willing to spend hundreds to get it..

Anyway.. This is what i need..

In track piano roll editor(like ext)..
Skewable grid when using a swing percent (like cubase)..
auto quantize input.

What i mean by skewable.. When you tell it to quantize to 8th notes, the grid lines reflect 8th notes. When you tell it to quantize to 8th notes with a 60% swing.. Then every other 8th note grid line on the piano roll skew to the right (or whichever direction is appropriate)..

Then you may input notes with the mouse on those skewed lines..

Please. I am desperate. Anyone know of anything besides cubase?

I didn't hear anything :shrug:
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

Your probably right that this would be stupid for repetitive trance.. Because trance doesn't have any swing in it (traditionally.) :)

I can't personally think of any piano roll that does this, but my experience is limited to only 4 or 5 hosts. (there's a lot out there). What I CAN do is tell you which ones I know don't do this, so that you can narrow your search a bit.

FLStudio, which has arguably one of the best/most featured piano rolls out there is not/does not have:

* In track - unless you have a different meaning (I don't know Cubase), and when I think (in track, I think of Sonar 5.)
* A Skewable Grid - although it sounds helpful to have the grid adjust according to the swing (I work in a very visual way).

I 'Think' it does have an auto input quantize, but I'm not sure (I'm at school, not home).

The others:
* n-Track has basic editing and does not have a skewable grid.
* Tunafish is VERY BASIC, and I think the Swing function has a bug in it - it doesn't work.
* eXT I'm registered, but I don't use it much so I don't know (judging from your post, you know more than me about this program.)
* Power Tracks Pro Audio - Doesn't do what you want, don't bother.
* Sonar (It didn't have it in version 2.2 - I don't know about version 5.)
* Reaper doesn't have it.

I don't know of any trackers that have all of these features you need.

I hope this helps narrow things down a bit. (I'm poor, so I can only speak about the low-end stuff. :-)

If Cubase does these things, you may need to look into that one more seriously.

I love this idea - if the quantize is swing, then let the grid show the swing as well for adding in little bits on the swung and swang notes.

Seriously, a grid with the swing template shown graphically would be excellent.

Yes... I can't wait till ext has it.. But i really need it now.. I feal so boxed in right now in ext.. I can either swing the whole track or none..

Sometimes i just want little swung phrases..

I d/led the live demo.. And i can't find a way to get an "in track" midi editor.. I think the lines do reflect GLOBAL groove.. But it wont do it on a note by note basis like i would like.

Can't you make a selection and just apply swing to it? I know you can in ORION's piano roll so maybe I just assumed the same of eXT. ORION also has quantise, both real-time and post, and will shortly have step-mode recording too.
