Bones, sure you can to pre-recorded midi.BONES wrote:Can't you make a selection and just apply swing to it? I know you can in ORION's piano roll so maybe I just assumed the same of eXT. ORION also has quantise, both real-time and post, and will shortly have step-mode recording too.
The idea presented here is to add to already 'swung' quantized data using mouse clicks;
It's adding in some 'flava' with appropriate mouse clicks here and there. Not that different than going back in with the mouse and adding in flams and such with BFD, after recording a basic kick/snare pattern.

That's one cool feature of SX.
You can grab the groove from a rex file (for instance) create a 'groove template' (I think it's called) & then apply that to the piano roll - makes fitting drum to the groove real simple, visual & intuitive.
I wish live had that feature

1. I dont believe you can in ext.. I think you need a groove module which doesnt let you see the notes swung.. Its NOT destructive.
2. Even if I COULD do that.. It would not suffice because I want to be able to insert swung notes with my mouse.. And also auto quantize them upon input!

Considering the outcome it's possible already for me quiet easily in Orion Platinum. Maybe it's just a question of time. If Cubase does that, why don't use that? Let's think about it what 'features' really important to make really good music! That 'features' relate with you, not the softwares you use.
Watch out, Orion v7 is coming!!!
