WOW!!
New live mode looks awesome... so in theory i could have a browser and while one arrangement is going, start throwing stuff into a new arrangement, then switch to it when i'm ready, that will be awesome if i split my tracks into loops and whatnot
i'm worred about how the sequencer interfaces with vst's differently.. i really like clicking a midi track, then adding a vst to it, i hope i don't have to go to the main window, add a vst, then go back to the sequencer and connect the midi to it.
i'm REALLY excited about the meters too,
i'm gonna pray for automaps or midi cc templates also, automaps are cool, templates are good also cuz we could share them. binding knobs and faders over and over is bad

from what i remember of jorgens comments if you work mainly within the sequencer your workflow wont need to change very much if at all ... what will be different is the way XT2 itself deals with plugins and routing ... currently AFAIK they are dealt with seperately inside and outside the sequencer comp whereas XT2 will deal with them all in a single way and will just change the way you interface with them depending on where you are working ...acid1 wrote:i'm worred about how the sequencer interfaces with vst's differently.. i really like clicking a midi track, then adding a vst to it, i hope i don't have to go to the main window, add a vst, then go back to the sequencer and connect the midi to it.
... i think ...

you can drop vsts or presets on midi tracks and they will be routed automaticaly (midi out from track to vst and audio out from vst to first master output). the vst will show of with connecions in the main window.
adding audio tracks in the sequencer are automatically routed to the master out, and if you drop a sample in the sequencer it will also create a track for you (unless you drop it on an existing track that is)
ps: master outputs is the same as the outputs of the soundcard (ASIO).
cheers

cool ... so ... when we add inserts onto a track will they also automatically appear in the signal chain in the main workspace ???jorgen wrote:you can drop vsts or presets on midi tracks and they will be routed automaticaly (midi out from track to vst and audio out from vst to first master output). the vst will show of with connecions in the main window.

no, inserts are part of an audio output channel..."in-place" effects (they are in each mixer strip), and they can be dragged and copied around in the new mixer.

to be more specific,
insert and sends are not in the main window, they are part of the the main mixer. oh, and the sends have inserts too...

[edit] I've calmed down a little.. I was very pissed.jorgen wrote:insert and sends are not in the main window
What IS in the main mixer then? What effects are in the main window? Do you have to open the main window to add them there?
I thought the whole idea behind XT2 was that everything would be in the mixer AND the main window.

The thing is you can work in the main window with effect chains etc., but main window stuff can have their own INSERTS on top of that (very cool, saves room, combines things, etc.). What I don't understand is this SENDS bullshit Where do the sends output? Do they have their own outputs in the sequencer which we can then route throughout the main mixer to our likeing? (very confused, but willing to find out later)
Do not lick the fablanky
