Your version definitely looks better, my futile attempt at making blue lcd value boxes was not only unsuccessful but also plain ugly. I really dig At the Beach, prolly keep it as default until my superpro megaskin is complete

As this was my second venture into skinning applications, I honestly feel like gaining a lot from people remixing my skins - I see things that my inexperienced eye fails to see when working on them myself.

I think you're doing fine with skin making (if that means anything from me). There's a little hurdle to take when beginning but it's often about details that often even the more advanced skinners don't realize (cross-relations between item colours, enough contrast on important value readouts etc.).
I'd really like if you continue enhancing the iXT skin as it has a very good concept behind it and just needs some finetuning (the LEDs are feasible I think ... just need some more contrast between background and text) - and looks very unique.

well ... im done for now on the new lighter skin ... and pretty pleased with the way things worked out for once ... actually TRIED to adhere to some of my stated GUI beliefs for this one ...

... as ever any feedback / errors / oversights more than welcome ... better quality pics this time too ...

If it were chewing gum this would definitely be wrigleys doublemint. All you need are the inbred newschool twins from the latest commercial hanging out as an easter egg somewhere (the guy with the beard in that commercial cracks me up, he's like an ex-con or something with a teardrop tattoo under his eye, which if you don't get it makes him very out of place in that commercial which is the shock-value of it I guess. I doubt very much other people put this much thought into it, so I'm going to shut up now).

heh ... my original draft names for this skin were 'pHresh' and 'repHresh' ...

... thanks for the comments folks ... i really only do this for my own use and for a bit of fun (as well as to practice a few graphics / design / photoshop skills i need for some of my teaching since im from a more fine arts background) but its great to know that other folks appreciate the effort too ...

I originally took on skinning because I wanted to have something on eXT that looks like me, but quickly realised that it's a completely new area of graphic design and since then I've approached it as an exciting learning challenge. I want to skin VSTis, too. I've asked and received a lot of help from the people here, which is nice.

It's a bit alarming to note that our world has become so fast, that an application GUI has much longer life than other objects of graphic design.

I'll surely be fixing iXT and ModernRetro especially, and try some other ideas but now music and other design stuff takes priority... I'm having a second honeymoon with my Evolver and hopefully the results will end up in the Café soon

(check your horizontal slider stretching btw, ye olde guiless plug issue)

apart from the blackfire icons the void skins were all scratch-built bitmaps too ... and that bloody GUIless fader thing !!! must remember to check that in future !!!

oops ... youre right jens ... i always check the MIDI track headers for black / white being the correct way round but forget the pianoroll itself more often than not ... luckily with my low contrast schemes its a fairly easy thing to sort out (and actually seems to make a few other bits of GUI easier to see as a knockon effect) ...

... went for a much cleaner and flatter 'software' look with this one (really quite pleased with the faders actually) ... and theres - SHOCK !!! HORROR !! - even a bit of colour too (though admittedly not much and all shades of the same one) ... as ever if you spot any stoopid mistakes or have any suggestions just let me know (jens and pakana - ive even remembered the GUIless plugin fader thing and the piano roll this time !!! ) ... anyway ...

I've had a few requests to do an Energy XT skin but I've said I'm going to wait for EXT2. Has anything been mentioned by Jorgen about the level of compatability between skinning the two versions?

Love the blue color scheme Teach! But I've never been a fan of flat gui's. Just prefer the 3D look.
