can you imagine running 32 tracks on your host each with a solid state logic channel strip.
watch this Video
A real hardware solid state logic mixing console will cost you £100.000 where as Duende will cost £1040 for the same results.
theres been a hardware vs software debate for a long time , however once you see items like this being released i can clearly see software will take over eventually.

So, how well do the digital SSL consoles cover the sound of their popular analog consoles? After all, Duende is supposed to use the same code for compressors and EQ...

I'm still going to wait and see what additions, if any, they'll make to the product line. It interests me greatly, but I really have no use for 32 channels of the same thing. A cut down version with, say, 8 channels would suit me ideally.
I don't use my DAW in the same way as I used to use large desks...if I did, I would have stuck with large desks. SSL are close to the mark, but not close enough.
SSL seem to forget that we all have access to the "render" button. I don't need to run every compressor and every Eq live...
I'm very pleased these type of things are coming onto the market though. Maybe I'm out of step with the majority, I don't know. But personally, if I bought it, I'd feel I'm paying for an extra 24 channels of redundant DSP chips. I'll happily pay the extra price for SSL quality if it genuinely imparts the SSL sound. But I won't be hoodwinked into thinking I need umpteen channel strips when I really don't.

Just use it at 96khz/stereo - 8 channels maximum.

it's funny that they called this 'duende', because in the philippines, 'duende' means midget or dwarf.

be part of the solution, not the problem
