If you're that desperate and willing to spend hundreds as you stated in your original post,why don't you just get Cubase ? Seems like the easiest solution if you need it that much.
Or did i miss something ?
Need a host with a piano roll as good as cubase..

I've had to use a dongle for 17 years, and strangely enough I don't feel punished, yet am still loyal to Cubase, exactly because it has such features that you are looking for.Two words... Dong gle...

I can see the argument against dongles - I personally won't go near PACE and ILoks (although not per se because of any dongle issue...simply because PACE used to f**k up your DAW - it might not now, but I won't buy from a company that f**ked up DAWs for so many years without any effort at fixing the problem. But that's a programming isuue, not a dongle issue).
Similarly I quite fancy CSR reverb, but there seem to be several usuers who lost their Cubase license because of the poor CSR/Syncrosoft license programming - again, not a dongle issue per se, but a programming issue from a specific company.
Steinberg got their own license programming right; as did Korg.
I suspect Cubase is the one, if you specifically need that feature. Or there's Logic
