Extreme Sample Converter

Has anyone had any experience using the ESC software to convert files for use in Manytone products?
Specifically, I would be interested in converting akai, kontakt and soundfont formats for use in ManyGuitar. ESC claims to support the required format conversions, but the price is a little steep - $88 USD - and I want to make sure.
If I can convert many of the existing libraries out there for use in ManyGuitar - and possibly ManyStation if I go that route - that would be worthwhile-cool!
Thanks,
Nthbeatle

Hi NthBeatle
I use ECS here with great success.
But you have to remember with any convertor.... sometimes things are not converted perfect.
For example ...some other sets may have Tuning of the samples set within the program they were made with. On conversion to other formats these tunings will be lost.
Same goes with filters / presets of each specific format. Meaning ...you can get the samples converted but the set may sound different in other players until you tweak it etc.
I Love Extreme Sample Convertor here and have converted a number of Soundfonts and some Kontakt sets for use in ManyGuitar and ManyStation with no troubles.
Welcome to the Forum BTW

Paul,
Much appreciated. Most of the stuff I'm interested in comes in familiar formats; as far as soundfonts though, I've never used them myself and am completely ignorant of the format, but there is one particular library I'd like to convert from. Will these converted soundfonts work on a non-soundblaster card? I use an M-audio card. Everytime I hear something about soundfonts it seems to be spoken in the same sentence as Creative Labs.
cheers,
Nthbeatle

Hi
A soundfont can be loaded in any VSTi soundfont player without a Creative card installed.
Most guys are using soundfonts in Virtual instruments instead of with the creative card.
But again things like ManyGuitar and ManyStation give you more options for sound design etc. than a regular soundfont player. So your idea to convert your sounds to the Manytone instruments and format should work well for you.

One more thing i can mention
After you convert your sets to Wusik / Manytone Format using Extreme Sample Convertor, You can then open any set in our ManyTone Mapper that comes with all ManyTone products, and extract the wavs or remap or fix any troubles you may have with conversion.
For example i strip some converted sets down to smaller more usable sets using this method. Or extract the wavs and retune etc. Then the mapper allows you to recompile the new set.
The mapper also lets you create your own sets from your own samples as well.
Anyways just some pointers to help you along the way.
Paul
