Some of you might already know this, some of you might have read the manual but if you are like me maybe you did not discover this yet.

Let's say you load an amp like the THD (my favorite at the moment)
You adjust everything to your liking (skip any FX's for now)
Sounds pretty cool heh... but you wish you had a little more gain.
So naturally you reach for the gain control only to find out that it is grayed out and you can not turn it

No problem! Just load an EQ in the Stomp section and turn the master level up 15dB.
Suddenly the THD starts to come alive

Need more gain?
Load another EQ and give it an additional 15dB!!!

now you're in heaven.

Ohh and while at it, try the "Single Ended Cl. A" for the output tube.... thank me later

Oh great, I just added a 3rd EQ and all the THD Tubes, my UAD-1 micro-tubes and 6 lightbulbs in my house blew.
If you have to ask, you can't afford the answer

Man.... I'm really jealous of you guys who are able to use Amplitube 2...
I don't know when I'll be able to use mine, since it crashes on startup :(

Post

I'm sure everyone knows this but turning up the input control at the bottom also has the same effect without having to load extra effects.

This thread makes me laugh for some reason. Even though I know nothing about amplitube.
Do not lick the fablanky

Post

Makes me laugh too. To summarize? Amplitube sucks. Which is good, I've been happy with the free, non-dongle requiring simulanalog suite.

Post

So did I help anybody?
If so please bump this so others can "get it" as well.

:band:

This is OT, sorry, but does Amplitube still use those annoying, tiny little IK dropdown menus?

I'm assuming this is based on your extensive use of Amplitube 2? Contempt prior to investigation, it's a beautiful thing.

Thanks for the tip Andrew. I'm going to try that out right now. :)

Yes, it uses drops downs.

Shame. I don't find IK's drop-downs very easy to use.

By the way, like someone pointed out before, this trick is meant to be done using the "input" knob. According to the user manual, you should turn it up until the louder parts of your song make it go all the way up until it turns red, then turn it down just a little.

Some presets, the clean ones specially, have the knob turned down so it doesn't distord, I guess, but turning it up always makes it sound fuller and fatter.

And by the way, AT2 does rock! I can tell because I own it...

wow :hihi:
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

I completely agree. AT2 kicks serious ass! I love that you can get great sounds without tweeking the hell out of it. :)
