Have you been building any presets? I'd like to hear/play with them if you want to share.

Indeed, I don't know if it's possible or not given the way it tracks audio, it may not be possible to do a polyphonic version/update. It would be great though I agree. PhazOsc has some good stuff inside it. And it's a no-brainer to program it, which is what I like most about it second to the sound it makes though of course

Nope not going to scrap them (the old synths), having too much fun to do thatmatthewjumps wrote:thanks for PhazOsc sounds awesome - and Grymmjack im loving the GUI - you are a master man!
Is there any chance Grymmjack could give the other two Synths (string sculptor and tripp lead) a new ui? or have they been scrapped?
looking eagerly forward to the new version of FreeAmpawesome!
btw - when PhazOSc is in MIDI mode - it would be good to have an option for poly as well (obviously not in audio triggered mode).
All the old synths will be updated to the new tracking including velocity tracking for the filter cutoff, and yep! Rick and I spoke about possable new UI's for them
About the poly Hmm! never really gave it a thought

Wow.
This is one cool VST plugin.
First of all, the GUI is fantastic!
It sounds awesome when MIDI triggered.
And it works great on vocals and all other kinds of audio.
Thank you very much for sharing this FX / Synth.
(Is it a VST or a VSTi? It's listed in the FX section as a synth: http://www.kvraudio.com/get.php?mode=re ... t=3&rpp=30 )

MrM - Thank you very much for sharing this FX / Synth.

Yes it is defined as a VST (fx) that is why I mentioned in the first post! if you need as a VSTi I could make a seperate version saved as a synth (I kind of like the tone this thing makes MIDI triggered
) figured maybe others would too.
Some hosts will have problems loading as a VSTi as it is now, I have tracktion 1 NFR and it won't reload right when used as a MIDI triggered device.
And I had no idea it was even listed in the instrument section, still have not got the chance to submit (someone did though) will have to change its listing.
Might do a seperate poly version also for MIDI trigger? let me know if it is something you might enjoy?

VSTi or VSTe doesnt matter in Tracktion. You just put in the filter area, feed it with audio or midi and it plays. That simple.
Great job both of you guys (FrettedSynth and grymjack). Great tracking also. Thanx a million
(Hey Fretted, is it possible to make it output midi?)

you should make a specifically designed "tracking vst effect" that uses your excellent tracking engine already used in PhazOsc, but doesnt make any sound just outputs MIDI signals....
Also a VSTi version would rock, but like i say, the VST effect version works fine in MIDI mode anyway, just needs to be poly

I asked him for the same thing.matthewjumps wrote:you should make a specifically designed "tracking vst effect" that uses your excellent tracking engine already used in PhazOsc, but doesnt make any sound just outputs MIDI signals....

As an EZ-EG owner I still enjoy cool pitch-driven synths - try bending a string on the Yamaha
So, here's another 'thank you' for PhazOsc and another vote for a tracking-only VST. I can't wait for the improved old synths

The big problems with a MIDI output version are, The latency would have to be increased by 10-18ms! don't sound too bad huh? but now compound that with the 2-12ms delay that is all ready in the plugin and to me it becomes unusable for me real time? also compound that with the latencies of your soundcard drivers and it gets real yucky to playAmpliFuzz wrote:As an EZ-EG owner I still enjoy cool pitch-driven synths - try bending a string on the Yamaha

Then the big problem for me shows its nasty face (tracking, mainly in the pitch and velocity, the gate works cool) I don't want to sound like a know it all, but I really don't believe that MIDI can represent audio tracking in a usable way? too many limitations with steps for control (all that bending, wiggling and smooth velocity goes to crap IMHO) I had a working MIDI version that I scraped because of those things (now I just wish I would have saved the file
Oh and BTW there was a bug in the labeling of the controls of PhazOsc 1.0
Will have a fix avalible, also with an eight voice poly VSTi version in the same .zip out soon.
My best to you and yours for this day of celibration.

Looking forwards to the poly version Joe!
Just had a thought about improving the tracking (even though it is really good, it can be better!).
Did you think of writing some code to actually track the sound of the pick attack? I'm sure there would be some note/string information that could be extracted just anaylising the sound of the pick hitting a string. The thicker the string, the more 'clumpy' it sounds, the further up the neck you fret, the 'duller/more thuddy' the pick noise sounds. Is there anything in that? (sorry for my extremely none technical explanations!)

That to me was one of the hard things to beat when creating these synths? that is where some of the latencies came from! was I had to delay the gate so it would pick up less pick noise and play the note more clean. some cool things you can do with them though is try doing a palm mute on the A or D string they really play quite clean and it has the mute tone. One thing that kills the tracking of these synths is if you mute with your pick fingers (trying to get the harmonics that so many guitar players love) it will screw up the tracking of the pitch big, if you pick clean with no harmonics it seems to do very well.spuddle wrote:Looking forwards to the poly version Joe!
