Samplist Unite and Be Heard :) We Need A Super Slicer

ok, often when i see people post that there are enough slicers already, phatmatik, guru, live slice and the like. but i don't think so. their are many many many synths and not nearly enough slicers.
there is at least room for one more, since i've been salivating over the likes of AMGs One, and Fxpansions Guru its become clear that the majority of people designing the slicers aren't folks who really understand 'the samplist' as a musician, heck some folks don't even think samplist are musicians so maybe its not to hard to fathom the perfect slicer being always just out of reach.
for example,, in my personal opinion it looks Guru, AmG one, and Liveslice are the dopest sample slicers out there but if you look at each one you'll see why each one drives the diehard samplist nuts by leaving out some very important sliver of a feature, its almost like there is a slicer conspiracy goin on (kind of funny/kind of not)..... Guru won't export slices or record audio(correct me if i'm wrong), AMG One won't slice and etc.. see where i'm going with this, now i happen to have talked enough to the fxpansion people to know that they understand Sample Culture so i don't know where
the omissions they've made in Guru stem from but alot of other developers think that when you talk about sampling you're talking about sample libraries or rexfile/acid file compatibility, but all of the cats out there digging through stacks of vinyL or running around out in the field with their recorders capturing sonic tidbits from the tapestry of life understand and know that that is not the case.
so while we're waiting for these talented companies to come around isn't there anyone on the free circuit or nearby that could come up with a sampling audio slicer that has the 'Samplist' in mind?
Liveslice is very close
wouldn't it be sick if there was a slicer with the features of Guru,Liveslice, and AMG One, ..who could turn down something like that for free, but i'd pay $200.00 for that!

Just curious... what are you missing from liveslice? Between its current state and the planned features I really cannot see it lacking anything important...
The mind boggles.

for the most part i agree with you Juanjo, its just that for some reason when it comes to samplers/slicers there seems to be a concerted effort to put in as little as deemed necessary and its just kind of weird to me, when it comes to a synth for instance its precisely the opposite ethic at work. I'm not a codist but I've always been under the impression that coding synthesis was much more difficult than coding audio editing features. aren't you familiar with those post that always pop up in sample threads that say that there are already enough slicers with that 'who needs'em' attitude?... i just don't get it. anyway i'm purchasing Liveslice today, i wish it read mp3s though.

maybe this is a good time to ask the kvr community what features they think would make a good sample slicing app?

Not really, care to point me to a few of them? I'm always up for a cheap laughstale bread wrote:aren't you familiar with those post that always pop up in sample threads that say that there are already enough slicers with that 'who needs'em' attitude?...
But I actually asked something similar a while ago about samplers (why there are so few of them compared to synths?). IIRC consensus was more of less along the lines of "you only need 1 or 2 good samplers, 3 at most, to do anything that sampling can offer... but synths you can have plenty of them and still lack some flavours". I think there's a hint of truth to that, although I'll always take a decent sampler over the greatest synth any time
The mind boggles.

thanks lawapa, i own beatcreator v2, and its very nice but beatcreator doesn't read mp3s, or allow you to slice and map samples to midi notes and sequence them. plus its stand alone app

Why would/should guru have audio recording capability? Anyone can record audio into a free editor, and then export it as a wave and guru will chop it up. i see no use for having an audio recording tool in guru.

i know you don't keyman_sam, and that is exactly my point. for you it would mean nothing, but for 'samplist
it would be a great feature for an already great app.
its for the slice and go workflow that 'such' type of musicians use imensely. record your audio source, slice it, map it, and go with it in any number of directions.

That's the old way of doing it, find a record, sample, arrange, find another record, sample, loop, etc... it's a more spontanious way of working than browsing through a large sample library. Not that sample libraries is not good, but initialy to be able to 'record' or sample your sounds directly into the sampler was more handy when the creative rush is there.

or rather the fluid way as opposed to the old way of doing it, i think sample libraries are nice, but they leave the samplist behind which is why these threads come up again and again, thats why there's always this initial excitement surrounding a release like Guru or One and the samplist start coming out the woodwork looking for those key features

i bet that guy Jorgen could make a rediculous slicer in no time,, yes i know that ext has one, but i'm talking about one from the samplist point of view for the samplist..not ext.

The one in FL Studio is pretty much perfect for me, and I slice a lot.

the FL slicer is the best I've come across, for the money its almost worth buying FL just for that component

Here's a thought.....
Why not do it yourself Mr Bread?
Why expect everything you want handed to you on a plate... and for free?!!
If the libs you mention are so lacking, why not up the ante and present your own..... or are your abilities and ideas as stale as your monicker here?
