Reaper selection question

Checking out Reaper for the first time; very interesting. The routing is very, very complete. But I have a basic problem:
I can't make a selectin in the timeline.
I've tried everything; I can make one by double clicking an event, but otherwise all I can get is one -- sometimes -- that starts at the beginning.
What am I missing?

1) Left-click in the timeline at one end.kL wrote:I can't make a selectin in the timeline.

Thanks. I got it; I was trying to drag in the timeline (like Vegas/Acid) on the demo project. It didn't work, but in a blank area of the track area on a new project it does.
Microtonic doesn't work -- makes noise on play. Can't figure out how to set snap. Midi edit not only not inline but without play or audio feedback?
I guess the pie just went into the oven. Cool ideas, though.

Thanks. Doing great work; as I said, the routing is without peer. And the efficient way you deal with folder tracks (cycling between track/folder/last/) is absofuckinglutely amazing. But you gotta get that midi in realtime/inline/audio feedback working.
Keep it up.
cheers.
