Yes it is Hi Gain enough - after multiple tracking it would sound awesome.

ps. I got distracted by all this talk about EMGs and thats why i did not say anything about the clip earlier.

:( GR2 doesn't work on my old crappy computer.

Hey Vervil can you share the preset for the time when i'll have enough money for GR2 and a comp upgrade ?

WTF?
If it wasn't just some completely overdone mastering compression, I'd almost like the guitar sound as it is - simply because it's just not sounding like a guitar anymore at all.

Vervil: Your last clip is sounding good. Perhaps a bit "shy" in the upper midrange, but that doesn't seem to be anything a bit of EQing wouldn't be able to sort out. The basic character is all there.

AT2 owners...

Can you please post any of the clean amp sounds.
... and slightly overdriven as well.

If it's not to much trouble.

What have you done - because of your clip i just bought AT2

NOW GIVE ME BACK MY $400 !!!
 LOL! Well, I don't think that clip was really that good, at least I don't think it sounds great to justify throwing 400$ out thru the window :P

I would gladly, but I don't have Guitar Rig. tried, but disliked it, at least it didnt't worked for me. Maybe Sascha can send you some of his presets, as it seems that he has find his way around with GR, but have in mind that presets that someone else has made will probably sound different with your own guitar. :)

Actually, I would lower the gain for multitracking, as this is a bit too much. When you ask what amp I was using, you mean, what "amp model"? It is rectifier model, recorded without further EQ-ing, on Amplitube 2 you could do some post EQ-ing, so I should have done that also because of fair comparation but was much too lazy :P
I would double it with marshall with little gain so it gets more definition, it would be too muddy in mix this way.

Well it is old POD, you own also, if I am right? Just instantly dialed Rectifier, no post EQ-ing. So it is like bronze age of guitar modelling or something :P Not that I am bashing Amplitube 2, but I was interested how people will compare something that is "older" "obsolete" and cheaper to 20000 or what amp combination brand new expensive amp sim... At least when it comes to hi gain sound. I do remember some tasty clips you have done for comparation between old POD and Vamp2, got some good sounds out of them.

Btw, record those GR2 hi gain clips you promised when you have some spare time, remember our talk about week or two ago on another thread? :)

No, I didn't, I just wanted to make my post smaller and size, so I sacrified part of your post :P

As I have said already in one post up, it is old Line6 POD, definitely not a secret. You can find it for cheap second hand these days, or if you don't need mobility Guitar Port will do for the money. Not that I am Line 6 fanboy, it is just more bang for the buck, at least for me right now. Tried the Vamp2 but disliked the character, and POD XL sounded better, but still has digital character, so I could not justify spending more money for amp sim.
IMO me Amplitube 2 sounds good on everything except HiGain (at least from what I have heard) but cleaner sounds I can always pull out from POD with little help of EQ, so A2 costs few hundreds bucks too much for me. And as I am old school guy I don't mind reamping, I want to make choices immidiately when recording, not to live that for mixing. :)

I already tried - but my axes don't seem to do the job too well. Should probably get some 11-52 stringset onto the G&L and tune it down a bit, that *might* get me closer, but the Anderson surely isn't a "chugga chugga" guitar.
Hmpf, which allways reminds me that I need to get anything along the lines of a Les Paul one day. For anything palm muted you just can't beat those bridges.
Could perhaps try with the Ibanez 335 clone... but that might at best sound AC/DC-ish.

As I was not able to dial any kind of hi-gain (it does not have to be chugga-chugga downtuned nu-metal stuff) I liked with GR2, it would be ok for me to hear Anderson Riffing thru some kind of more old-school distortion, hair metal style or whatever. I have Valley Arts that is somewhat similar to Anderson guitars, superstrat guitar, and I can make it sound metal, so if you have humbucker in bridge position it should work. Don't want to make you any hussle to record clips if it is complicated for you, off course :)
Pod's crunch is.... eww...
Pod "crunch" model is not great, if that is what you think by "crunch"? Never used it. But you can get usable crunch by using some of the hi gain amps on low gain setting.

Post

what's wrong with POD's crunch?...maybe the presets suck, but I can get a good crunch with either 2.0 and xt live...but your version of crunch and my version of crunch are probably different...;)
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

Heh, no worries, it's not exactly complicated. I'll see what I can come up with.

By default, the older PODs crunch isn't that shiny indeed, but I've got some reasonable results with the higher gain amps when lowering the guitar volume (better than when only turning down the amp gain).
